Issue with Birtish maths education is that it dosen't encourage you to take any pride in what you learn. It's just a memory game. Use x formula here, don't go any further into it. Once you leave, you forget everything but the basics, which is why a large portion of adult Brits have the maths ability of primary school kids.

Also we have extremely low literacy rates for a developed country. Kids in year 7 cannot read aloud, and still need to be tutored in reading at 12-13.
