@Smoke I reckon it's because men in high positions never needed to worry about the lack of financial viability of homosexual relationships. They were typically rich or in positions of power.

Plus, these are men of honor, and women are considered unworthy and dishonorable, they can probably only have relations with men that they see as equals.

@Smoke I don't think rank had anything to do with it. I think it was the lack of women combined with the strong platonic bond. Plus, once you get home from war, it must must be difficult to relate with women on a personal level, unlike your fellow soldiers, dude to how sheltered they are.

Homosexuality is either fixation or opportunism, in the former case by men who suffered sexual abuse by a member of the same sex or in the latter case by men who cannot temper their lust and either lack other opportunities to gratify it or have very low standards for their own behaviour. In every instance it is an unhealthy expression of sexual desire and it's consequences are nearly as deleterious as it's cause.
