Hey JF

2020-01-24 21:36:25 UTC

netherlands was based

2020-01-24 21:36:26 UTC

we've been at it all day about Inclusive Fitness and Group Selection

2020-01-24 21:37:04 UTC

if it never explains more, usually less, and frequently leads people towards wrong predictions, whats the point?

2020-01-24 21:37:24 UTC

Oy vey

2020-01-24 21:37:28 UTC

The goyim are rising against us everywhere

2020-01-24 21:37:28 UTC

Schnuggi91

2020-01-24 21:37:36 UTC

thats bad

2020-01-24 21:37:53 UTC

well, there's still an empirical question - is eusocial behavior caused by Inclusive Fitness?

2020-01-24 21:38:16 UTC

group selection is just a way of organizing the answer to that question

2020-01-24 21:39:05 UTC

2020-01-24 21:39:16 UTC

even if we're talking about selection on organisms, organisms are still not replicators

2020-01-24 21:39:18 UTC

great name

2020-01-24 21:39:34 UTC

so I could say, "why talk about individual selection"

2020-01-24 21:39:55 UTC

You can use group selection if you're extremely careful and not lose sight of it being an emergent property of gene selection

2020-01-24 21:39:55 UTC

lul

2020-01-24 21:39:58 UTC

Winnie the Flu

2020-01-24 21:40:33 UTC

But I think it's very rare that thinking in a group selectionist view would be more practical than gene or individual selection

2020-01-24 21:40:38 UTC

If we make Christopher the Bat, will the ching chongs be less suspicious of us mocking them

2020-01-24 21:42:44 UTC

@Nerthulas That's exactly the point. The higher level of selection you view, the more likely it is to predict incorrectly. Individual selection can be handy, but it can also lead you astray. Gene selection always works

2020-01-24 21:43:29 UTC

would people, instead of a Fifa Soccer just play RUGBY 2020 (pirated edition), we could get at least one nuclear power plant of the grid because we'd save so much traffic, and give Greta some life-force back.

2020-01-24 21:43:39 UTC

of course groups are not Dawkinsian replicators, I don't think group selectionists tend to claim this, although Hector did at one point

2020-01-24 21:43:46 UTC

it just

2020-01-24 21:44:04 UTC

explains the emergence of traits which are fitness-decreasing on the individual level

2020-01-24 21:44:07 UTC

isn't a group just a probability cloud?

2020-01-24 21:44:48 UTC

but which is apparently advantageous to populations

2020-01-24 21:44:54 UTC

the mechanism is still on the gene level

2020-01-24 21:45:12 UTC

99% of the time it just confuses people

2020-01-24 21:47:28 UTC

confusion is just a group selected default setting for modern humans

2020-01-24 21:49:25 UTC

they really are a shameless bunch

2020-01-24 21:50:49 UTC

Bernie is not an atheist?

<:sargone:576555026722586635>

2020-01-24 21:51:48 UTC

he is, but the point is the massive hypocrisy from the other atheists

2020-01-24 21:55:14 UTC

lol atheists throwing other atheists under the bus for votes
