Idk how much was me, I said Rosary upon Rosary upon Rosary for her so I reckon that did something

2019-04-28 05:44:20 UTC

What was she before

2019-04-28 05:44:46 UTC

sort of semi-practising protestant

2019-04-28 05:45:17 UTC

We went to catholic high school and I invited her to go to mass with me outside of school etc

2019-04-28 05:46:32 UTC

Nice, glad to hear she converted

2019-04-28 05:46:59 UTC

me too

2019-04-28 05:47:18 UTC

Now just got to sell her completely on all the trad stuff

2019-04-28 05:48:15 UTC

If she sought conversion I doubt that'll take a lot of effort

2019-04-28 05:48:48 UTC

she's dipping her toes in, just needs a bit more catechesis

2019-04-28 05:49:20 UTC

at any rate, she is a wonderful God fearing woman and I want to marry her when I'm able

2019-04-28 05:49:23 UTC

I mean, she's your gf though, do you not talk about these things?

2019-04-28 05:50:07 UTC

yeah of course, the first time I went to Latin mass was her asking if we could go

2019-04-28 05:50:49 UTC

we talk about it and stuff and like I've showed her how to use the missal and stuff and theology of the mass etc

2019-04-28 05:52:57 UTC

Btw to all fellow Catholics, remember that there is a Plenary Indulgence on offer this Sunday

2019-04-28 05:53:19 UTC

Aye, good reminder

2019-04-28 06:02:24 UTC

Thru Christ all is possible. knowing this blessing of courtship now I want to find love.

2019-04-28 06:02:46 UTC

@Orrbit what exactly is a plenary indulgence?

2019-04-28 06:03:10 UTC

@LuxCo are you familiar with the concept of indulgences in general?

2019-04-28 06:03:42 UTC

All sins are forgiven I believe?

2019-04-28 06:03:45 UTC

not quite

2019-04-28 06:03:53 UTC

well, the ones that can be forgiven

2019-04-28 06:04:21 UTC

so, our sins are forgiven by nature of Christs sacrifice on the cross, the effects of which we get through the sacraments

2019-04-28 06:04:40 UTC

so the guilt of your sins are totally forgiven in Baptism/confession

2019-04-28 06:04:53 UTC

however, the effects of your sins are not

2019-04-28 06:05:05 UTC

Even my repeated "impure" offenses?

2019-04-28 06:05:14 UTC

masturbation?

2019-04-28 06:05:22 UTC

yup

2019-04-28 06:05:28 UTC

if you are truly repentant at the time of confession, yes

2019-04-28 06:05:32 UTC

^

2019-04-28 06:05:38 UTC

ah understood.

2019-04-28 06:06:48 UTC

so, the effects of your sins are like: say you killed someone (I know its an extreme example), you can be forgiven totally and all guilt is gone from your soul, but somewhere there is still a family without a dad whose gonna be affected by what you've done forever and you still need to account for that

2019-04-28 06:07:22 UTC

true

2019-04-28 06:07:44 UTC

Pretty sure that regarding masturbation it's self harm though

2019-04-28 06:07:45 UTC

Oh okay right right

2019-04-28 06:07:58 UTC

that made alot of sense thanks

2019-04-28 06:08:02 UTC

usually this is partly what we undergo in Purgatory, its burning away the effects of sin on our souls that we didn't quite detach from even though we repented, but also making reparation/suffering the consequences of our effects

2019-04-28 06:08:04 UTC

but

2019-04-28 06:08:33 UTC

since the Church has the authority to bind and to loose, under special circumstances we can get indulgences which relieve us from this

2019-04-28 06:09:00 UTC

so essentially, if you obtain a plenary indulgence, until you commit another sin, you will not go through purgatory if you die

2019-04-28 06:09:52 UTC

the conditions are, you must be in a state of grace, receive communion on that day, go to confession within 8 days before or after, pray for the Pope's intentions and do whatever action the specific indulgence states

2019-04-28 06:10:38 UTC

so for example, this Sunday you pray the prayers associated with the Divine Mercy devotion (chaplet etc) or pray an Our Father, Creed and a devout prayer trusting in Jesus' mercy in front of the tabernacle
