Nether portals are big gay

Anyone got the lowdown on how to make nether portals work properly?

What is your problem?

I built a portal and come back in a portal ~400 blocks away

Have you tried destroying the portal to which you are brought back?

Maybe. Portals try to link to the nearest portal. Maybe portal A has portal B as the nearest in the nether, but the nearest portal to B in the overworld is C

Ok that makes sense

Might just have to give up there and wait for the railroad to be done

So maybe by destroying C it will use A as the nearest one

It's kind of an adventure getting back, because C is in a cave in an underwater ravine infested with death

(so is A tbf but A is in conduit range of my base)

Just dig your way up to the surface

I can get back, I did it once, it's just a pain lol. Maybe next time I'll pack a boat
