Luke 1:42

**Luke 1:42 - Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition (DRA)**

```Dust
<42> And she cried out with a loud voice, and said: Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. ```
Because if you try to solve problems by reducing Mary to a mere, normal woman, you have caused yet another disease, which you will have to "cure" by cutting yet another limb
2019-07-20 09:05:50 UTC
I don't see the disease there though? For her to just be?
2019-07-20 09:06:22 UTC
The Christ Bearer is the Christ bearer with or without a mystical birth and life
2019-07-20 09:06:31 UTC
That would fall into what Mozal mentioned had nothing to do, which was what I said
2019-07-20 09:07:00 UTC
That is a blessing in itself and the absolute ultimate fulfillment of womanhood
2019-07-20 09:08:13 UTC
That’s, in my eyes, a pseudo-new way to call mary Christotokos basically
2019-07-20 09:08:20 UTC
The disease is the theologically bankrupt statement that Mary is just another woman with no difference from others, even when she is described as full of grace, Christ having been born of her, and crushing Satan's head. It doens't hold that all of this is said of someone merely because of acting as some kind of fleshy receptacle for God, since in order to deny Mary's characteristics, you have said that it has no real effect on the mother
2019-07-20 09:09:03 UTC
She was filled with grace because she was chosen
2019-07-20 09:10:08 UTC
You have made that impossible, by saying that she was just a normal woman, with no different nature because of her role
2019-07-20 09:10:26 UTC
By saying "being chosen doesn't mean any special status, or characteristic"
2019-07-20 09:10:31 UTC
Luke 1:42
2019-07-20 09:10:39 UTC
Is this really that hard to understand?
2019-07-20 09:11:03 UTC
And that blessing and grace that it is mentioned isn't just a title, it is an actual thing
2019-07-20 09:11:10 UTC
Exactly
2019-07-20 09:11:20 UTC
Her mundanity is simply another exhultation of the Christ. Not every great child of God needs to be a magical superhero, some are just given a role and carry it out, and are blessed because of their obedience.
2019-07-20 09:11:52 UTC
Yet there is also no scripture saying that Mary was perfectly obedient either
2019-07-20 09:12:07 UTC
So what is it going to be?
2019-07-20 09:12:08 UTC
What greater blessing is there than a child, and what more so a child that is God indwelt among us?
2019-07-20 09:12:26 UTC
She raised Jesus well, that is obedience
2019-07-20 09:12:32 UTC
Yet she gathered the Apostles in pentecost, pushed Jesus to perform his first miracle, etc
2019-07-20 09:12:45 UTC
Well maybe being full of grace and crushing Satan's head, which show us again what is done for her role
2019-07-20 09:12:55 UTC
And does it say anywhere that she raised him well?
2019-07-20 09:13:05 UTC
No mozal lmao anyone can do that eksdeee
2019-07-20 09:13:12 UTC
He turned out Jesus and still loved his mother?
2019-07-20 09:13:35 UTC
Shitty parents don't raise messiahs
2019-07-20 09:13:40 UTC
Jesus was going to turn out Jesus, in your framework, without requiring any special thing
2019-07-20 09:13:54 UTC
I love my mother too, but she doesn't have any special grace that makes her obedient
2019-07-20 09:14:35 UTC
Is perfect obedience in your eyes, naturally achieved?
2019-07-20 09:14:43 UTC
You are pretty much reducing what is said of Mary to the most mundane things, pretty much being a decent mother that doesn't kill her son. But then it makes no sense that so many outlandish things are said of her
2019-07-20 09:16:00 UTC
And I don't expect you to say now "ok I'm convinced", but the claim that what we say is unsupported by Scripture is foolish. These, and many other things, are mentioned and studied by the Fathers of the Church, and when the involved dogmas are declared
2019-07-20 09:16:36 UTC
And if you say that this causes scandal for some, I will also say that every single verse causes scandal for some. I have even seen people refusing to pay parking fines by saying that Christ already paid for our sins
2019-07-20 09:16:53 UTC
For real..?
2019-07-20 09:17:07 UTC
She's Jesus' mother, and he was as man as he is God, of course he exhalted her. I just think you're looking too lowly at those mundane things.
2019-07-20 09:17:36 UTC
Scripture doesn't just mention "she was his mother", or "she was his fleshy receptable"
2019-07-20 09:17:48 UTC
Yeah, being a Virgin and giving birth to Jesus is such a mundane thing
2019-07-20 09:17:57 UTC
<:ohyou2:569616856105877505>
2019-07-20 09:18:06 UTC
The way Mary is treated and described is in no way mundane
2019-07-20 09:18:20 UTC
God isn't mundane either
