I'd think more like two paralell tracks, lance mounted on a swivel ti the side of each car. Each lance should be heavy enough and balanced to need minimal force to keep it aligned, but still require effort from 5 crew cars filled with degenerates fighting for survival, each team tries to nail the other critically as they pass, survivors get to go again
