@Dave the Rave Im skeptical as well yet here i am. Convince him to follow the rules and adopt the lifestyle for pragmatic (self-improving) reasons. The rest will fall in place.
Legit thing: I honestly can't side with the (current) nation over terrorists. Like, I honestly can't decide which one is worse, and I would never risk my life or anything of mine for either of them.
If anyone has a good reason, I'd love to hear it.

I'm a popular man.
Also you're mom gay hah
I had someone try to go all sola scriptura on me a few weeks back, said that it was more important to study the Bible than to do a theology unit I enrolled for
lel
Imagine being so gay that you confuse sola and nuda
Freaking evangelicals think they are on the side of the Reformers when, in reality, they reject almost every doctrine the Reformers put in their confessions and sermons. Luther, Chemnitz, and even Calvin quote the fathers incessantly
Same with Cranmer
This Bowl of Soup guy is an idiot too. The Didache was a catechism, of course it doesn't mention infants and it permits affusion very clearly. Irenaeus certainly puts Paul and Peter above the other disciples. He's right about Chrysostom, but he can't spell his name.
Idk man, something to be said about sola scriptora that could probably fix a lot of the sicknesses in the old Church. Prots can be a bit retarded throwing the baby out with the bathwater when it comes to broader tradition, but there's also no truer tradition than the Word ultimately speaking.
Marian heresies, for example, which spread like wilfire through feminist and feminist-vulnerable enclaves throughout the modern Catholic world
Not talking about the basic stuff I should add (that Mary was mother of Christ and blessed among women is Sola Scriptora in itself, and immaculate conception/perpetual virginity is pretty old tradition, but not necessarily a dealbreaker even if I don't buy it), I'm talking hardline Servite bullshit like Mary being an equal and Co-redemptrix with Christ.
Yeah, but that stuff like co-redemptrix isn't found in the fathers.
Sola scriptura non est nuda scriptura. It's an extremely important distinction. Idk about reformed circles, but when you read the introduction of the Formula of Concord, they explicitly state that the fathers are not to be removed, but to be read and considered and they even include an entire document in the Book of Concord solely quoting the fathers. People forget that Luther had a degree in Patristics (AKA "sentences" back then).
What we see in the fathers for Marian dogma are semper virgo, theotokos, immaculate purification/conception (differs among fathers and appears earliest in the 300s, cit. Ambrose for example), and the Assumption (the Assumption itself is the earliest mention of this to my knowledge, though I may be wrong).
People also forget that Luther believed in Immaculate Purification, Semper Virgo, Clauso Utero, and a number of other historical traditions. He simply didn't bind peoples' consciences to the doctrines.
Let's stop with this over here tho. We can always move to <#557361162292035609> if we want to discuss this
But again, why would anyone care about a random monk that came up with some heresies, broke his bows, and married a nun?
Annunciation on last sunday
