Christian monarchy follows the traditionalist model of a theocratic ruler though. The pharaonic principle is that the ruler is an incarnation of God (heresy of course, unless you are Jesus) or divinely appointed by God, which is the christian monarchist form. The national leader is also the foremost religious leader of the nation, which would come in the form of a Cardinal. In that way, a supreme pontiff selecting a leader of a nation versus the people of a nation deciding their own will is another question entirely. I want to bring up the degeneration of Church systems though, Roman and Byzantine. The Catholic 'two swords' wishes for the monarch and the church to be competing for dominance (church versus state) and the alternate model is syncretic, *Symphonia*, where the church and state are complimentary which is dialectical to the two swords philosophy. Of course, in the Kingdom of Heaven, the church ***is*** the state. The king of kings is also the Lord God
