Cousin just got back from 6 months of YWAM, idk what to think. Organizationally it's fucked but idk how to address the actual stuff he's come back saying, because I have no idea what of it is rubbing me wrong. A lot of it is scripturally sound, but when it comes to the overreliance on personal interperetation and feelings it's like they just taught him to deflect. I don't doubt he did good where he did, but a lot of the 'holy spirit' stuff idk what to make of at all...

Idk he just really seems caught up in "holy spirit" stuff to the point where he's convinced doctrine doesn't matter, because God can make everything work, but not really cognizant of it *not* working like that even if it *can*

I would say, ask him how several persons can be one God, or where the HS proceeds from, or a similar question that he will probably not be able to answer, so that he understands that Christianity isn't some emotional nonsense in which he has pretty much watered down the faith to a couple vague screams about "holy spirit", as some kind of wildcard.

After all, someone who talks so much about the HS certainly must be an expert about the nature and the Trinity that he talks about.

Honestly I didn't realize it's so big, I had a friend who did it back in the day. Surprised to see it mentioned here.

They're pretty cult-ish. There are a lot of stories of weird shotgun marriages happening while on mission in a third world country. The head of the mission for that area has basically complete control and some of them have insane theology.

My friend liked it but he was a pretty big Evangelical at the time. He's a based anglo-catholic now.
