yep

2019-07-13 13:49:57 UTC

>God forgives no traitor
is this ironic or what did St Peter do when he debied Christ three times?

2019-07-13 13:51:45 UTC

@SUPER MALE VITALITY™ agree with this hard.
but also, the churches do engage in social stuff and have decent organization. so being involved in one's church is essential for this, but also theres a decent overlap between the larping insurgents and good church bois, especially in the south

2019-07-13 13:52:25 UTC

Can Peter's denial really be considered anything more than fear?

2019-07-13 13:52:39 UTC

Especially when you compare to an orchestrated act to betray such as Judas.

2019-07-13 13:57:50 UTC

Judas didnt lose his chance for redemption until he killed himself is what I heard

2019-07-13 14:11:57 UTC

I can see that being the case.

2019-07-13 14:12:04 UTC

God's mercy being infinite and all that.

2019-07-13 14:20:38 UTC

God forgives a million treasons if there is repentance.

We don't really know what happened to Judas, since his suicide is motivated by guilt, though of course the suicide itself is a big sin. Christ says "It would be better for him if he had not been born" which seems pretty damning.

2019-07-13 14:29:10 UTC

Without knowing the greek, that could be a premonition of the overwhelming sense of guilt that follows.

2019-07-13 14:29:29 UTC

But then, Dante Allighieri was pretty convinced Judas hung from the fangs of Lucifer.

2019-07-13 14:29:55 UTC

Dante is just a poet

2019-07-13 14:32:15 UTC

True.

2019-07-13 15:06:11 UTC

It was ironic <:bruh:569616839340982272>

2019-07-13 20:50:42 UTC

ppl in another server talkin about greek mythology

2019-07-13 20:50:58 UTC

haha greek bagans btfo

2019-07-13 21:08:29 UTC

Is suicide a sin if the person is mentally ill??

2019-07-13 21:08:49 UTC

huh.. so Logos has payment plans now.. didn't know this. $60 for a year and I'd have enough research material to sate my autism for a lifetime

2019-07-13 21:12:17 UTC

@alias I guess standard Catholic teaching is that it might not be.. but it depends on the person i guess

2019-07-13 21:12:41 UTC

I was just wondering. Ive heard both that it is and that it isn't a sin.

2019-07-13 21:12:56 UTC

the way I heard it described is that intent factors into it

2019-07-13 21:13:02 UTC

if you don't have full use of your reason...

2019-07-13 21:13:53 UTC

I hope God shows mercy upon those who are very mentally ill and kill themselves. But I don't think Judas was mentally ill I think he was just ashamed of his sin

2019-07-13 21:13:55 UTC

>Invincible ignorance, whether of the law or of the fact, is always a valid excuse and excludes sin.

2019-07-13 21:14:05 UTC

Thank you for the link!!

2019-07-13 21:15:26 UTC

(new advent is shockingly good but hard to read sometimes.. something about their writing style)

2019-07-13 21:15:35 UTC

I feel the same way!

2019-07-13 21:15:42 UTC

But I just thought it was me being stupid!!

2019-07-13 21:15:50 UTC

is Judas in hell?

2019-07-13 21:16:14 UTC

can't say for sure. Christ said it would be better if he had never been born, which sounds bad for him

2019-07-13 21:16:23 UTC

RIP

2019-07-13 21:16:28 UTC

Oof

2019-07-13 21:36:07 UTC

Yes, Judas is in hell

2019-07-13 21:36:25 UTC

Probably one of the few we know is actually there

2019-07-13 21:36:31 UTC

o o f

2019-07-13 21:37:11 UTC

Yes, had he repented he would have been forgiven, but overwhelmed of guilt for betraying the Son of God he decided to take his life

2019-07-13 21:38:30 UTC

could that be counted as repentance?

2019-07-13 21:40:35 UTC

Not at all

2019-07-13 21:41:00 UTC

hmmmst

2019-07-13 21:42:47 UTC

He took his life because apart from carrying so much guilt, he had nothing anymore, his friends would despise him for betraying their master, the pharisees saw him as weak for rejecting the silver, it was game over
