Seriously though, why is it that atheists rail against Christians for accepting things on the well-established authority of the Church, but demand that other people accept what scientists say as fact?

To be clear, the current generation of scientists, are not all scientists, and what scientists 'say' doesn't necessarily coincide with what actual science says. I don't fucking understand how they conflate these things all the time, or regard it as "arrogant" to disagree with the consensus even though it's literally a central part of their worldview to be "freethinking".

Basically she threw a temper tantrum in the car like a child on a family trip, and I'm still living at home because my state is unlivably expensive and my mother's a bit of a psycho and tries to hobble me as much as possible to keep me from leaving because I'm the only one in the house who puts up with her shit, but the tantrum set me off and some parental wrath came out and I shouted her down into silence, which her being a stereotypical loud latin mother was no small feat
