My parish, definitely, priests are a bunch of memes
Act like jews for money and always pull some dumb homily
Even at my Maronite rite Church it's still super fucking shit tbh
Like, the mass is better than NO but the homily is the same garbage as usual
At least you don’t get the “lol teens are always right don’t listen to elders” thing
Or lowkey protestantism “it doesn’t matter if you don’t believe in Mary” things
Would love the Monsignor to secretly attend one of these
I got the "The Rosary isn't Catholic and specifically Catholic saints aren't Catholic" speech though

Ah yes, this Catholic saint from the 1800s? Can't say he's Catholic
No bitch, they both Catholic. Everyone else can fuck off if they don't wanna sign up
my priest is incredibly based
today's homily was "the wages of sin is death" and that it's either eternal glory, or death after death
That's pretty busted though, the Homily is always what I'm most excited about when I go to a mass. Everything else is done with an air of going through the motions to fulfill the obligations of occasional attendees, that's the 15 minutes you get to hear whether or not there's any life there or if it's just boomer nonsense...
communion is the best part no doubt
Best part is definitely consecration and communion
The funny thing is the homilies here are usually at least okay
this is the first time I've seen one wholesale hijacked
lol homily the best part
prot no doubt
i wonder what St. Gregory the Great would think seeing his Liturgy so massacred by the current priests
God forgive me but I can't stand the church chorus
It's all, wanting to set people moving or something
Agnus Dei sounds like a pop song
like, do you know what's going on..?
this is a bruh moment
I mean, as far as the ceremony though you always know what you're gonna get, and 9/10 times it's gonna be rushed and dispassionate because 60% of the attendees are boomers and 30% are Mexicans who are just there because their parents made them get confirmed as kids so now they feel obligated to show up between car detailings and drive bys.

It's not the song, it's the style
personal favorite
The preaching is the heartbeat of the church, if the congregation isn't growing in the knowledge and fullness of christ, and they think showing up twice a year and saying a few prayers is faith, what is that communion but a cracker to them, even if it is in reality the body of Christ?
partially agree, they should be showing up every week. Fr. Chad says that maybe 60% of Catholics don't even know it's literally the Body, Blood, and Divinity of Christ that they are receiving, they think it's symbolic
Truly a crisis with the same magnitude as the Arian heresy
For the devout, all parts of worship are vital, the homily is the gauge of the spiritual health of the lay-member who relies fully on the guidance of their specific authority figure. Those lay Catholics wouldn't be blind to the realities of their faith if their preist was alive, vibrant, and unafraid to teach what is uncomfortable (or at least they wouldn't have the excuse). The catholic church just has the same numbers obsession as protestant churches get, they want to claim all these people as members in the name of statistics, but I'd wager purportionately very few catholics are genuinely Catholic, especially in the west.
I seem to recall a doctrine/teaching/*something* that taking the body and blood without understanding its meaning is the same kind of sin as taking it under mortal sin
Been thinking about this a lot actually over the last week, been feeling this weird call to Mt. Athos, praying to see if anything should come of it, but when you compare the life of the monks to just lay Orthodoxy, it's staggering just how massive the divide has become.
>what is communion but a cracker
ayyy
Hot damn boy, communion is the whole fucking point of mass
