maybe no one starved but people didn't really have that great of lives, slavory was rampant in Egypt

2019-09-16 12:59:53 UTC

Ma'at was only conceptual in Egypt, and for the ancient Mediterranean they had quite fair lives

2019-09-16 12:59:59 UTC

Egypt to me was a starting point

2019-09-16 13:00:03 UTC

Not the destination

also if you think we're in a decay period right now how do you explain technology constantly improving with ever more inovation?

Because we haven't reached collapse yet, we are still in what could be considered the golden era of our civilisations

2019-09-16 13:01:38 UTC

On the start to decline

2019-09-16 13:01:52 UTC

There will be more conflict to come, more innovation

2019-09-16 13:02:15 UTC

What we know will come to fall, but I won't even pretend to have any clue when

2019-09-16 13:02:44 UTC

very intersting you see it that way, other political ideologies such as neo reactionaries and the alt right would say we're very near collaspse right now, basicaly teatering on the edge

2019-09-16 13:03:02 UTC

Not really

2019-09-16 13:03:12 UTC

They see incoming struggle, which to me is progress

2019-09-16 13:03:32 UTC

When cultures clash their fighting only creates technological innovation, despite the loss of life

2019-09-16 13:03:54 UTC

We near collapse when one civilisation stands on the corpses of the rest proclaiming victory unchallenged

2019-09-16 13:06:01 UTC

Infact these reactionaries to me are progress

2019-09-16 13:06:09 UTC

They are innovation

2019-09-16 13:06:21 UTC

Wanting to uproot the social order is not stagnation

2019-09-16 13:06:26 UTC

Complacency with it is

2019-09-16 13:06:48 UTC

I apreaciate your perspective because even as a libertarian we have our own views which mirror thos of the altright specificaly on economics, that the economy can't sustaine it self at this current level do to banking manipulation and while this is not the same as societal decay it leads to basicaly the same disaserous outcomes more less, it's nice to know there are other well read people out there that think maybe we have several more decades to go before things get really bad

2019-09-16 13:07:25 UTC

I'd give us centuries still

2019-09-16 13:07:41 UTC

Rome had economic failings, and disasters

2019-09-16 13:07:48 UTC

But they never outright strangled it

2019-09-16 13:08:00 UTC

The complacency of its populace and the lack of virtue did

2019-09-16 13:08:17 UTC

centuries, nice

2019-09-16 13:08:38 UTC

But yeah see what i mean when i say i think too long term, i tend to ignore recessions and economic issues, and just label them as the natural order

2019-09-16 13:08:47 UTC

it wont happen while I'm alive then and probably not in my childrens life either

2019-09-16 13:09:00 UTC

yay

2019-09-16 13:09:11 UTC

I mean hopefully the cycle won't finish again

2019-09-16 13:09:18 UTC

I think it can be broken

2019-09-16 13:09:28 UTC

yea man like you think super long term
