@shadows the issue is the narrative that money not spent on consumer goods is doing nothing to improve society. Just because a person puts money in a bank doesnt mean its not working for society. It still gets fed back into the hands of corporations (via loans instead of profits) and continues the cycle of economic stimulation

@Putz That was kind of my point, i'm not sure who here would argue with that (the video wasn't).
He does point out that the 2008 rebate only modestly stimulated the economy because most people saved it or paid off debts instead of using it (using it i assumr means buying consumer goods)
I would expect that people here understand that unless your money is buried in the yard it will be stimulating the economy
could you imagine the stimulus that would happen if the debt we had was less?
like if people weren't paying 25-50% of their income to a bank?
and instead were saving it?
@Putz His point wasn't that people not using money in the economy and maybe just saving it or paying off debts. Didn't make for as big of a economic stimulus as many people thought it would.
That person wouldn't look at saving money with a bank or investing as having no economic benefit.
