ok, I found Blonde's section in that video I posted above - it starts at 30:34, 31:47(will post more timestamps as I find them)
That study is making a prediction, and it doesn't square with what actually happens
violent crime in nevada is down since passage of concealed carry. I don't attribute it to concealed carry, but it didn't increase like that guy said it would, so that study isn't using data, its just the author saying what he thinks will happen
given that the data was available when he made his "study" it leads me to believe he's pushing an agenda

People seem to think coding is all about just being smart, but most don't think about the undervalued skill of being able to put your head down and power through boredom, frustration, and just general unpleasantness. Which is something most of us (myself included) have a very limited capacity for.
I mean, I actually really enjoy coding. When what I'm trying do actually works. Which is mostly never.
tbf i think most jobs are boring...
coding has just the unique frustration of being stuck at some point and being unable to move forward, whereas elsewhere you can still see yourself progressing

Also, I have immense respect for older programmers. Imagine having to write code without being able to Google error messages. I'm pretty sure I couldn't do it.

or the memory limitations... programmers back then were used to exploiting bugs to their benefit, nowadays its just write as much as you won't, there is no need for caring about the ram usage
Oh yeah, that too. Because of that, no one can tell me that video games from the first few generations of consoles weren't a technical marvel in their own right. Especially the original Game Boy.
