oof coding with a laptop and trackpad sounds like a punishment

2019-09-03 05:17:56 UTC

it is boring, if it was fun, they wouldn't have to pay people to go to work

2019-09-03 05:40:32 UTC

When she was talking about 'a map that would be easier for girls to get used to' I was really hoping the guy was going to say 'oh, so like a kitchen?'

2019-09-03 10:28:59 UTC

well she did basically say it herself

2019-09-03 10:45:14 UTC

People seem to think coding is all about just being smart, but most don't think about the undervalued skill of being able to put your head down and power through boredom, frustration, and just general unpleasantness. Which is something most of us (myself included) have a very limited capacity for.

2019-09-03 10:48:29 UTC

I mean, I actually really enjoy coding. When what I'm trying do actually works. Which is mostly never.

2019-09-03 11:02:02 UTC

tbf i think most jobs are boring...
coding has just the unique frustration of being stuck at some point and being unable to move forward, whereas elsewhere you can still see yourself progressing

2019-09-03 11:04:20 UTC

Yeah, I can only take so much of that.

2019-09-03 12:58:46 UTC

Also, I have immense respect for older programmers. Imagine having to write code without being able to Google error messages. I'm pretty sure I couldn't do it.

2019-09-03 12:59:24 UTC

That sounds like hell.

2019-09-03 13:16:08 UTC

or the memory limitations... programmers back then were used to exploiting bugs to their benefit, nowadays its just write as much as you won't, there is no need for caring about the ram usage

2019-09-03 13:20:14 UTC

Oh yeah, that too. Because of that, no one can tell me that video games from the first few generations of consoles weren't a technical marvel in their own right. Especially the original Game Boy.

2019-09-03 13:30:56 UTC

Those were the days.

For any Eastern entertainment media fans, which is most everyone on this server, here's a great comparison between Western and Eastern storytelling.

Beleive it or not, this really is me. The name, "๐˜Š๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ง๐˜ฆ๐˜ด๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ด ๐˜–๐˜ง ๐˜ˆ ๐˜๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ๐˜Ž๐˜ถ๐˜ฏ ๐˜Š๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ญ ๐˜š๐˜ถ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ," isn't just clever. In fact, it's not terribly "๐˜ค๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ท๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ" at all. It's an actual confession (fruad, misrepresentation, spoliation of and tampering with evidence, obstruction of justice, and second degree murder).

Slippery language with assault weapon-rifle example no. 4 million

2019-09-03 22:17:16 UTC

What if I sell them to inner city gangs, does that count?

2019-09-03 22:25:26 UTC

And the amazing part is he doesn't know the words he's using.
EHEM:
Assault Weapon: Automatic แตƒโฟแตˆ/โ‚’แตฃ burst fire compatible detachable box magaแตถine fed firearms. If itโ€™s semi-automatic, itโ€™s NOT an "assault" anything.

2019-09-03 22:25:48 UTC

rifle

2019-09-03 22:26:03 UTC

military term is assault rifle

2019-09-03 22:26:17 UTC

made up term is assault weapon

2019-09-03 22:34:11 UTC

...
NO.
It covers everything from Glock 18 (*etc.*) to AVS-36 (the *ACTUAL* first assault weap)... The made-up term is assault rifle, since *"rifle"* has no specific meaning as a firearm.
BTW, Sturmgwevere means *"Storm Gun,"* not *assault rifle.* (Next thing you'll be saying *'intermediate cartridge's* as well... SMDH).

2019-09-03 22:45:09 UTC

2A is exactly designed to ensure the civilian populace has "weapons of war" as his ilk likes to refer to them. That should include LITERAL "assault rifles".

2019-09-03 22:53:01 UTC

What is an โ€œassault rifleโ€?

An assault rifle is a rapid-fire, magazine-fed rifle designed for military use. It is a shoulder-fired weapon that allows the shooter to select between semi-automatic (requiring you pull the trigger for each shot), fully automatic (hold the trigger and the gun continuously fires) or three-shot-burst modes.

What is an "assault weapon?"

Technically, there is no such thing. Whatโ€™s called an assault weapon (or sometimes an assault rifle) in reports on gun violence is a semi-automatic rifle that looks similar to the assault rifles used by the military. An AR-15 rifle, like one that has been used in some mass shootings, is an example of this type of weapon.

2019-09-03 23:07:08 UTC

I mean, if we were faithful to the second amendment to any real degree, we wouldn't have such rigid restrictions on select-fire weapons.

2019-09-03 23:12:39 UTC

We should all have cannons.

2019-09-03 23:16:16 UTC

Ok.
Good.
Great.
***YOU*** tell me what the functional difference between a Viet Nam Era M-16 and a G-18 is.
Here's a hint, I started with comparing the M-16 and AK-47.
FTR, I do support restrictions on automatic and/or burst fire weapons... And I *LITTERALLY* beleive you should be required to have a STANAG 4172/4179 compliant gun at home and work... So... Ya... ๐Ÿ˜’

2019-09-03 23:17:19 UTC

Oh... Not the AK-47, my bad... The, uh...
The folding stock paratrooper version. I forgot the designator.

2019-09-03 23:34:57 UTC

We know.
We know. ๐Ÿ˜”
Not sure how I've avoided the wrath of Susan m'self.

2019-09-03 23:42:45 UTC

the AK 74 is an AK 47 with a folding stock, if that's the one you're talking about
