It would be great if people could stop calling it a "buyback", the government can not buy back something it never owned.

from what I hear, these buybacks usually give you something like $100 for your gun. I'd still be pretty pissed about having to turn in my guns for something like 10% of their worth being called "just compensation"

from what ive seen, the $100 figure comes from the voluntary buy backs that get done occasionally.

the gov is required to give fair market value.

anything voluntary would not fall under the just compensation clause

hence the lower price at a voluntary buyback
