spend some time doing w/e, then start work without moving at all
makes you go a little crazy after a while
ah yeah
thats a bit much
especially when you're dealing with system administrators that know fuck all about what they're doing
Probably true. I only know of the market second hand since I’m still in school
and get paid 3-4x as much as you
I literally once had to teach a guy how to install Java
and this was a system admin at a government contracted company
at my current job, I primarily work with print shop faculty, so I can at least laugh off them not knowing what the hell they're doing on a technical level 😛
Yeah you're going to run into tons of people that can get you a foot in the door to a place, give advice, insight, etc.
yeah I felt like I didnt have the knowledge base for networking especially when I was doing my practicum
which is why I'm certing up rn
I've been picking up networking as I go currently
took a single class for it in college, but working with printers kind of makes understanding networking to at least a small extent necessary
yeah thats fine for some of it for sure
went through some VMware update stuff that seemed to go screwy but I managed to stumble through a fix
at least on a basic level, especially since our company controls all of the servers for our software
At first I was lost, seemed like too much to learn and no guidance on where to begin. Was just aimlessly memorizing crap. But doing practical things and THEN going back to concepts helped me grasp the scope of the field, for me at least
My sister was at work ( she is a casheir at a pharmacy ) and after she got done selling stuff to a lady she handed sis this card that annoyed her and her boss and even her boss said it was stupid
“Folks” has become a trigger word for me
If you’re 65 or older, you can say folks. If you’re under 35 and say folks then I’m gonna go ahead and right you off as a far left ideologue
That's not fair, I like using the word.
I use folks when I'm trying to cover for the fact that I sound like Michael Reeves.
I don't think I've ever heard someone address another person as "friend" like that card suggests, except to be as snarky and sarcastic as possible
'Listen here "friend" (Insert some threat)'
@RoadtoDawn You just have a weak bladder.
Ha, I was fine, I went before. But lots of people did have to go during the movie
@amlam I picked up calling my parents folks when I used to watch Jimmy Neutron virtually every day and haven’t managed to drop it since
Kind of like how Aye is baked into my vocabulary
One can only hope.
Watching Twitter have a meltdown over *thighs*, as in Shadow's link, has been an experience
