2019-06-13 06:30:58 UTC

¿Is it real?

2019-06-13 08:40:48 UTC

The womens football team won 13-0 against other women. How has that anything to do with how much women should be payed compared to men?

2019-06-13 08:48:32 UTC

If that was the score against a team of men, I would absolutely agree.

2019-06-13 08:50:31 UTC

I still wouldn't agree that they should be payed more just for winning. The only money they should get from a win is if there was price-money to be won by winning the game.
Wages would automatically be going up by market forces if indeed a womens team would make themselves more interesting to watch.

2019-06-13 08:56:37 UTC

depends on the compensation model, many sports use a % of revenue model, which is garbage

2019-06-13 08:57:06 UTC

since the expense ratios can be higher in lower revenue sports

2019-06-13 09:09:24 UTC

so for example in the wnba the complaint is women make less as a % of revenue, however operating expenses also make up a much larger % of revenue as well because revenue as a whole is much smaller. At the same time they are arguing for more money to be spent on advertising and market development which of course would eat into the revenue pie

2019-06-13 09:10:02 UTC

now if they did % of profit, they would share in the benefit of expense reductions

2019-06-13 09:15:54 UTC

Operating expenses are often curbed by using facilities that have been build, and been payed, for men's sports.

2019-06-13 09:16:05 UTC

But I think that is what you were saying anyways.

2019-06-13 10:37:48 UTC

You don't really need to keep reposting the same things...

You're typically allowed to profit off of open source work so long as what you produce is also open source

2019-06-13 21:16:09 UTC

If you're following the rules it's 100% above board

2019-06-13 21:16:20 UTC

The point of FOSS is open, shared functionality

2019-06-13 21:17:01 UTC

Iirc, I could, under Xonotic's license, go and print a bunch of physical copies and sell them, in theory

2019-06-13 21:17:29 UTC

There would be no legal action taken against me, because the ability to obtain the game freely has not been infringed

2019-06-13 21:23:19 UTC

The flip side is that you have something like RHEL, wherein everything outside of their officially supported version (IE the one with their branding and tech support) is up for grabs, which has led to offshoots like CentOS. Conversely, Red Hat pulls from Fedora, which is more community driven (and free)

2019-06-13 21:23:39 UTC

Is it unethical to use code in a way permitted by the contributor?

2019-06-13 21:26:03 UTC

Like if Gab is breaking rules re: licensing, they should be dinged. Otherwise I don't see an ethical issue here. If you contribute code under a license, you are consenting to the use of your code under the parameters of that license. This is voluntarily contributed code

2019-06-13 21:47:30 UTC

@Legalize
There's nothing unethical about it.
If it we're, fodev.com, fonline-reloaded.net, and fonline2.com would all be guilty. (I mean, they are for pissing on the Fallout name, but not for profiting off same.)
For that matter, so would most bands... .mp3

2019-06-13 22:21:53 UTC

@Legalize its not unethical or scummy. open source code is MEANT to be used freely by all. In commercial products you have to follow whichever open source license the code uses if you include it. This is standard practice in SWE.
