@[DGI]tech I'm happy to do it if you want to send it to me. It will be more of a hassle for you than taking it to someone locally, I'm sure--but I will guarantee it will be 'insanely sharp' again when it gets back to you...

2019-08-06 04:10:34 UTC

damn how do you ship something safely so it keeps its sharpness?

2019-08-06 04:12:51 UTC

the blade

2019-08-06 04:15:56 UTC

I want to eventually get stones to sharpen them myself, but I have a few other products that take priority.

2019-08-06 04:16:54 UTC

My usual process is high-grit sandpaper followed by a two stage buffing to take the wire edge off--gets it nice and shavey.

2019-08-06 04:21:17 UTC

Interesting. I'll have to do research. Build up my skill set.

2019-08-06 04:22:14 UTC

There are many ways to sharpen an edge and all of them work. It comes down to preference and a practiced hand.

2019-08-06 04:26:18 UTC

@Vesdii easiest way to safely package a knife is to tape two pieces of cardboard together tightly and slide the blade in between like so.

Ugly but highly effective as a temporary sheath.

The whitman guy also had an m1 carbine

2019-08-06 07:07:08 UTC

which could be 30 round detachable mags

2019-08-06 10:20:56 UTC

i don't know shit about guns but that figure about the AR-15 doesn't even make sense. how can a semi-auto fire at a higher rate/minute than a full auto?
what is an "assault weapon"? can a baseball bat be considered an "assault weapon" if you use it as a weapon to assault someone?
lots of 🤔

2019-08-06 10:24:20 UTC

Even if you illegally modified it to be full-auto, the cyclic rate of fire would be the same or lower than the actual M16. And then for all the previous weapons, they've used a measurement that seems to include the time it takes to reload, but went with theoretical maximum for the last 2

2019-08-06 10:25:22 UTC

1,200 rounds/minute is 20 rounds/second. Is there a gun that can even fire 20 rounds/second?

2019-08-06 10:25:46 UTC

A few, but that's insanely fast

2019-08-06 10:26:02 UTC

i thot so

2019-08-06 10:26:03 UTC

AR15 can't fire that fast for sure

2019-08-06 10:26:43 UTC

you don't need to be a gun expert to know that figure is bullshit if you think of it for a couple of seconds

2019-08-06 10:30:10 UTC

They don't actually know what any of those words mean, so it doesn't bother them any.

2019-08-06 10:32:17 UTC

They know their target audience won't scrutinize it

2019-08-06 10:34:07 UTC

surprised they didn't just use "Dead babies per minute"

2019-08-06 11:01:55 UTC

Fucking Vox.
*The cops shot him dead within 30 seconds and just before he made it into the bar where hundreds of people would have been helpless targets, but AKTUALLY that's why they failed to save anyone*

2019-08-06 11:05:24 UTC

I guess if you don't pre-emptively kill an assassin, it doesn't count

2019-08-06 11:11:49 UTC

It’s funny how all these shootings keep happening in areas where people are mostly unarmed.

2019-08-06 12:55:10 UTC

Every shooting is stopped by a good guy with a gun.

2019-08-06 12:56:44 UTC

Or the perpetrator is later captured by good guys with guns.
