"Psychologically sound enough to deploy several times to fight the enemies the government wanted fought, but not sound enough to carry a weapon for protection here at home due to using prescribed meds from a government run healthcare system."

The whitman guy also had an m1 carbine

2019-08-06 07:07:08 UTC

which could be 30 round detachable mags

2019-08-06 10:20:56 UTC

i don't know shit about guns but that figure about the AR-15 doesn't even make sense. how can a semi-auto fire at a higher rate/minute than a full auto?
what is an "assault weapon"? can a baseball bat be considered an "assault weapon" if you use it as a weapon to assault someone?
lots of 🤔

2019-08-06 10:24:20 UTC

Even if you illegally modified it to be full-auto, the cyclic rate of fire would be the same or lower than the actual M16. And then for all the previous weapons, they've used a measurement that seems to include the time it takes to reload, but went with theoretical maximum for the last 2

2019-08-06 10:25:22 UTC

1,200 rounds/minute is 20 rounds/second. Is there a gun that can even fire 20 rounds/second?

2019-08-06 10:25:46 UTC

A few, but that's insanely fast

2019-08-06 10:26:02 UTC

i thot so

2019-08-06 10:26:03 UTC

AR15 can't fire that fast for sure

2019-08-06 10:26:43 UTC

you don't need to be a gun expert to know that figure is bullshit if you think of it for a couple of seconds

2019-08-06 10:30:10 UTC

They don't actually know what any of those words mean, so it doesn't bother them any.

2019-08-06 10:32:17 UTC

They know their target audience won't scrutinize it

2019-08-06 10:34:07 UTC

surprised they didn't just use "Dead babies per minute"

2019-08-06 11:01:55 UTC

Fucking Vox.
*The cops shot him dead within 30 seconds and just before he made it into the bar where hundreds of people would have been helpless targets, but AKTUALLY that's why they failed to save anyone*

2019-08-06 11:05:24 UTC

I guess if you don't pre-emptively kill an assassin, it doesn't count

2019-08-06 11:11:49 UTC

It’s funny how all these shootings keep happening in areas where people are mostly unarmed.

2019-08-06 12:55:10 UTC

Every shooting is stopped by a good guy with a gun.

2019-08-06 12:56:44 UTC

Or the perpetrator is later captured by good guys with guns.

2019-08-06 12:58:24 UTC

But I don't think that sort of logic works on turning people around. They're more like Pandora, hopelessly trying to put human suffering back inside the box. If only we could just make gun technology go away.

2019-08-06 13:01:49 UTC

Even if we could, you still can be killed by the sword. And unless you're trained to use a sword, it's pretty useless for slf defence.

2019-08-06 13:06:20 UTC

But they think having less efficient weaponry will somehow reduce the suffering. That unarmed people would have a better chance against a sword than a gun.

2019-08-06 13:14:02 UTC

They probably say that now, but then they will start coming for your knives.

2019-08-06 13:14:05 UTC

Then spoons.

2019-08-06 13:48:33 UTC

>not training with the blade

2019-08-06 14:07:53 UTC

While you were out banging chicks...

2019-08-06 14:08:05 UTC

I’m not reading all the text so this mighta been answered but is the AK47 a semi auto? Because you could argue that they were using the semi auto version of an AR but that doesn’t seem to be the point and I’m confused

2019-08-06 14:08:28 UTC

Suppose it’s a bunch of phooey either way though

2019-08-06 14:09:06 UTC

Assault rifles have full auto. Semi auto only versions exist of many rifles but they are not assault rifles

2019-08-06 14:10:07 UTC

A real AK47 is full-auto and hasn't really been manufactured in decades, but most AK derivatives in civilian hands are semi-auto. In America, they tend to be WASR clones

2019-08-06 14:11:12 UTC

I see, so we could assume that they were using one of those even though it’s disingenuous as all the AK’s in media of all sorts are the full auto versions.

2019-08-06 14:12:19 UTC

I think the AKM is the modern derivative anyway. There's a lot of AK variants and they all kind of look the same so the media will just call all of them AK47s

2019-08-06 14:12:22 UTC

I like how the AK shoots an order of magnitude more slowly than the AR even though they have the same type of action

2019-08-06 14:14:43 UTC

It’s the same with AR-15. That’s a specific rifle. Most ARs are actually just “AR pattern rifles”

2019-08-06 14:16:35 UTC

`I like how the AK shoots an order of magnitude more slowly than the AR even though they have the same type of action`
What are you smoking?
