It's worth remembering as well that a 500 dollar phone now is "cheaper" than a 500 dollar phone 10 years ago. Further, it depends on the range of time used. The jump to 1k for some models is relatively recent, and comes after decades of price drops. The last time a flagship was 1k was what, the 90s?
