@Clive we don't know if the money came from tithes. More likely than not it was generous donations outside of the 10% laid out as tithes in the scriptures. Still very generous and nice of the churches members.
Doens't matter where it came from, its money that could have been spent on making a bigger prettier church, they chose to use it for humanitarian efforts
