jesus christ, the blatant levels of propaganda in the NYT at this point are utterly insane

2019-11-08 17:35:59 UTC

@C1PHER
I'm reddish-purple.

@Avald
...
¿Cheating in acedemia? Not shocking.
¿Rioting over it? Deeply shocking... And disturbing.
@Lord Zedd
Of great irony to the incel movement/slur, a woman coined the term to describe her own experience...
@Deleted User
*"Blonde is paranoid"*
If you're not at least a little paranoid, you're asleep... And soon to be dead or enslaved.
@vampirebox
... Seattle... Bitching about *'constitutionality'*... I wish I could make them watch themselves...
@Mystic axe
Jeff's right. There is a presumption of innocence in law.
Lynch mobs don't care. (Guess I gotta buy more another set of knuckles... I do hope he has a professional address...)
@aguyyouknow
Have been a while... About 8 years now.

2019-11-08 17:36:46 UTC

oh yeah, I know they've basically just been a propaganda outlet for quite a while, but you'd think they'd try to be a LITTLE less blatant in their bias

2019-11-08 17:37:40 UTC

then again, it seems to at least create voter fatigue in people that are less interested in politics, even if it doesn't necessarily encourage people that vote against the things they're pushing to actively change their vote

2019-11-08 19:15:39 UTC

So I have kind of joked about it before but really what is stoping us from making chimera's... We know that dinosaurs existed and how big they got... why dont we try and making somethign that big? i know we will have no way of controling it but hopefully having a part dog or bird in it so it can be at least trained not to kill on sight. cause if there is going to be an apocolopes. I'd ratther die by Theme park Monsters, or Reign of Fire than Zombies anyday...

2019-11-08 19:19:10 UTC

You won't die by any of those
You'll die by murder, starvation, disease, or accidental death

2019-11-08 19:38:30 UTC

First and foremost, @Mystic axe, because our understanding of genetics is nowhere near that level.
Second, presume we did exactly that...
¿Then what? ¿Do you know you can stop the monster you're unleashing? You're afraid of skinjobs, but ¿are you sure you're not *creating* them in the process?

2019-11-08 19:44:05 UTC

@Beemann Have you ever read the STand?

2019-11-08 19:44:14 UTC

I have not

2019-11-08 19:44:25 UTC

Where King has a chapter to all the survivors who die after the apocalypse to just the random parts of life?

2019-11-08 19:44:41 UTC

Your comment made me think of that.

2019-11-08 19:44:45 UTC

Oh thats funny

2019-11-08 19:44:56 UTC

Yeah thats basically how it would work out though

2019-11-08 19:45:12 UTC

Oh whoops stepped on a nail. Enjoy your tetanus

2019-11-08 19:45:19 UTC

It is a serious of vignettes about the survivors of the super plague.

2019-11-08 19:45:23 UTC

One person actually does die that way

2019-11-08 19:45:56 UTC

One gets locked in a freeze, one tries to shoot a homeless bum and didn't clean her pistol, nail, a small 6 year old who just starves.

2019-11-08 19:48:56 UTC

Its only a chapter but it stuck with me.

2019-11-08 19:49:01 UTC

Beeman have you read any King stuff?

2019-11-08 19:49:09 UTC

I would rate the Stand as one of his best.

2019-11-08 19:49:33 UTC

Small bit of The Dead Zone

2019-11-08 19:49:41 UTC

Didnt get very far but I still have it

2019-11-08 19:49:45 UTC

Dead Zone was real good if I recall.

2019-11-08 19:49:53 UTC

Yeah I've heard good things

2019-11-08 19:50:02 UTC

Dry but a balanced look at the psychology of a pyschic.

2019-11-08 19:50:25 UTC

It has a solid ending as well, and does not get as crazy as some of his stuff from that time.

2019-11-08 19:50:46 UTC

He stopped doing huge amounts of Coccaine and no longer writes his books over a weekend,

2019-11-08 19:50:52 UTC

I feel the quality has gone down.

2019-11-08 19:54:04 UTC

My favorite short King books are Dark Tower, Salem's Lot, Dead Zone, Green Mile.

2019-11-08 19:54:10 UTC

and the Shining.

2019-11-08 19:54:27 UTC

It and the Stand are great but goliath beasts.

2019-11-08 20:05:37 UTC

I've watched the adaptation of Green Mile but that's about it

2019-11-08 20:08:32 UTC

¿You wanna be scared?
Read *The Hot Zone* by Richard PRESTON... It has a supreme endorsement.

2019-11-08 20:29:58 UTC

IT and The Stand are great. The Green Mile is also good

2019-11-08 21:08:48 UTC

I liked Dead Zone a lot.

2019-11-08 21:09:03 UTC

I read it because of the USA show.

2019-11-08 21:10:36 UTC

One thing I really liked about the book is that Johnny is legitimately crippled from his brain injury and actually has consequences from it other than just the time lost in a coma.

2019-11-08 21:21:43 UTC

***The** Dead Zone.* Completely different story.
Eh... I think there was a film, staring Dustin HOFFMAN, in a role occupied by a woman in the book...
