Yeah but our culture has become fucked to the point that a large portion of parents don't care.

2019-06-16 00:28:46 UTC

yea

2019-06-16 00:28:50 UTC

The parents not getting involves in their kids education, you can government overreach all you want, but they aren't stopping parents from helping guide the schools

2019-06-16 00:28:50 UTC

because of a lot of things

2019-06-16 00:29:02 UTC

And they spread their filth exponentially to future generations

2019-06-16 00:29:55 UTC

Owell, sounds like i won the debate, freezing interest is a dumb solution. Peace, i'm out. Ill keep an eye out for another interesting debate :)

2019-06-16 00:30:01 UTC

Fortunately Gen Z is wising up to their insanity, but I don't know if it's enough to save us from the current trajectory.

2019-06-16 00:30:05 UTC

You didn't win the debate.

2019-06-16 00:30:11 UTC

We just stopped talking about it.

2019-06-16 00:30:25 UTC

In the end no one wins.

2019-06-16 00:30:34 UTC

Especially when the socialists take over.

2019-06-16 00:42:08 UTC

Freezing interest won't stop socialism

2019-06-16 00:42:10 UTC

Itll promote it

2019-06-16 00:42:17 UTC

Boom, won the debate

2019-06-16 01:00:06 UTC

Sure.

2019-06-16 01:00:39 UTC

Because apparently all regulation is socialism.

2019-06-16 02:33:21 UTC

Holy crap that was annoying to read.

2019-06-16 02:53:29 UTC

@Putz @Just for youtube [NB1] @IImploreYouToRemoveYourself
This isn't to say @DJ_Anuz idea is good or not, but all 3 of you were doing a terrible job framing his argument (for the most part).

Being a responsible individual is always great, but we do also all live in a society, and this society always keeps telling people going to college is the best thing to do. Now after having listened to societies advice, and it doesn't work out well for said person, or becomes to much of a burden for them. Is there something we could do to fix this problem?
DJ: How about we freeze student interest loans after 10 years.
Society: No, you shouldn't have listened to us you loser. Its your own fault!

Is it the problem for the person who took on that loan? Yes, but our society told them it was a good idea, and at some point it will cost us one way or another to fix these things, its not just a "Sorry, its your own fault kid" problem.
I still don't know what i think about the idea (freezing student loans interest after 10 years), i kind of lean against it, but we still need idea's to fix these issues. Which yes will include individuals making better choices but that doesn't fix the problem many people already have, and will also need to work on fixing the mistakes society made/making (if possible) so they don't happen as often.

2019-06-16 03:07:12 UTC

Society told me college was a good idea too

2019-06-16 03:07:16 UTC

I looked at the numbers

2019-06-16 03:07:24 UTC

And It didn't look like a very good idea

2019-06-16 03:07:44 UTC

Society made it really clear that if I want to go *anywhere* in life I need to go to college

2019-06-16 03:08:05 UTC

It's San Francisco so that's baked into our schooling

2019-06-16 03:08:30 UTC

Individuals should have weighed the options

2019-06-16 03:09:03 UTC

I really dont care how much they were told what the right answer was, when the answer costs $50k you should probably look into that cause it seems like a rather large investment doesn't it

2019-06-16 03:09:20 UTC

Not Ever Person Is You. heh

2019-06-16 03:10:29 UTC

This doesn't change that argument if you made a better choice, many people didn't. What do we do about that? (and remember, saying nothing doesn't fix the problem)

2019-06-16 03:12:04 UTC

Okay we should start by preventing the problem from happening to more people. We won't fix the problem by trying to bandaid it after they already made the mistake. They need to be trained to not make the mistake.

2019-06-16 03:13:03 UTC

I'm literally sitting at a graduation party with my liberal extended family telling my sister that she can go do ancient history studies or whatever and she's going to be fine. That's what has to stop, not the interest. It's happening right this moment

2019-06-16 03:15:57 UTC

You not making the same mistake doesn't fix other peoples problems.
Other people learning from these mistakes doesn't fix other people who already made mistakes problem.
Do you have any idea's for fixing people who are in troublesome positions right now, when all they did was listen to society, other then "Sucks for them"?

2019-06-16 03:42:18 UTC

Yes but more people not making the mistake fixes the other people's future problems

2019-06-16 03:44:09 UTC

I dont have much of an answer for how to fix all the problems that people have already got themselves into

2019-06-16 04:59:17 UTC

so @Shadows demands social justice as well :)

Here's another way to look at it. How come we think buying a house in 30 years is an okay idea but paying off a 36k student loan is not achievable. what separates them in terms of achievability?

@Just for youtube [NB1] that's exactly what i said before, step one is stop the bleed then we can worry about healing the wound

2019-06-16 05:02:15 UTC

Yeah we can heal the wound

2019-06-16 05:02:17 UTC

Fine by me

2019-06-16 05:02:20 UTC

Stop the bleeding first

2019-06-16 05:02:51 UTC

I, DJ as well as the 3 of you said those things. Can we stop repeating it....

2019-06-16 05:03:54 UTC

@Putz If society creates a problem, society has no burden to fix it?

2019-06-16 05:04:28 UTC

that would be social justice, but then wear is my social justice for having to pay for someone else's higher education?

2019-06-16 05:05:03 UTC

Wow.

2019-06-16 05:06:13 UTC

regardless of indoctrination, i never had an opportunity to remove the pen from that hand, only the person taking the loan had the opportunity to read it and reject the terms
