@uncephalized I get what you are going for with the bit about getting one vote for each dependent, but I don't know how much I like it. Aside from that, I've wanted a system like that for a while.
Apocalypse world is lit.
@uncephalized one vote per half acre.
@uncephalized interesting, but I dunno about the dependents thing
The idea is to give the most weight to those who are taking on the most responsibility for others/having children they can actually pay for.
Restriction to net taxpayers only is more palatable to me
Because... I mean, what's a "dependent" ?
I've heard a lot of good about Apocalypse World, but I'm not sure how I feel about the narrative focus, from what little I've seen, it seems to make a weird abstraction between what you are doing and what you are rolling.
For the purposes of this and any other law?
The definition used on taxes is fine.
I think that's a bit different from there to here, though...
What would your definition be, mate?
There's a whole list of tests the IRS uses to determine who can be declared a dependent, I can't just reel them off.
Nah, I'm not asking you to do _that_, I'm asking for what _you_ think should be the definition of dependent
But basically it's a child or family member for whom you provide economic essentials out of your own income.
Because it's the same down here, and I'm willing to bet a lot of those are different
@wolfman1911 it does. Ironically my first DnD game was on my mission, and it was Apocalypse world with my Apos district leader.
I guess the thing I love about apocalypse world, and the 2d6 model is that the game not only progresses faster, since every roll is pretty simple, but how you do things tend to make a big difference.
I guess I would say regular dnd is like a turn based strategy, whereas apocalypse powered games are more like a first person shooter.
So can your wife be a dependent?
That's the part I'm trying to work out. It's much clearer for children.
Mine would be xD
But let's say...
I'm halfway with Blonde on the whole 'repeal the 19th' thing though lol
A lot of millennials nowadays still live with their parents, but are not dependent on them for survival
Would they count as dependents and therefore be unable to vote?
if they pay their own taxes then they're not dependents
A lot are dependent though. And we already have laws identifying what a dependent is for tax purposes.
And it works pretty well. Just use the same definitions
exactly DJ
This is especially interesting to me because this is typically the case with Asian families, who stay with their parents until they get married
That's wack.
yeah I don't have any problem with who lives under whose roof, it's more about whether they are pulling weight as taxpayers
Truf.
Why is it wack DGI ?
@[DGI]tech the west did something similar for the longest time.
I'm not trying to push any particular living arrangement, I actually really like the extended-family thing
^
Only it was for the wealthy.
For the most part
I lived with my Mom until 21. I left after graduating college, and due to a few other circumstances.
@Legalize did you read my proposal above?
