do you avoid talking and driving
to the passenger
@clubfrills Im outside of Seattle. I feel you.
Hey, we got Corey Booker! He's doing *so much* for Newark here.
Interesting to join the states though. Welcome. I always love that Europeans seem to know more than most of us do about our own politics.
Best of luck.
Also I'm totally new to the server -- long time listener and knew of the discord but kept forgetting to join
so hello!
Thank you! I really love this country and definitely feel like I have more rights and liberties here than in shithole Sweden
Im in the same spot. Ive been a fan of Blonde since late 2016 and then started listening to the show like... a year ago?
Joined the server today
I'm interested in that -- what makes you feel that way? I've had friends in bands joke when they tour Norwegian countries that they have to buy $30 cheeseburgers
But that's off the cuff conversation, I don't know exchange rates and whatnot
I guess I'm not attuned to what makes euro countries less desirable, other than the EU
@clubfrills Well, Sweden doesnt have an aggressive constitution like America does.
Free speech is non existant.
Income tax up the asshole
Socialized healthcare is garbage and the waiting is long.
High rape rate.
No right to self protection
Extremely strict gun laws
And everyone is a super left leaning liberal
Ooof
And the EU
My ancestors were full blood swede and every time I think of that I thank God they emigrated here
we need a one world government
Yeah fuck the EU too
Say Trump is successfully impeached. Wouldn't that set precedent that would make Biden an invalid candidate for running for the presidency?
What difference does that make? The Dems don't give a shit about precedent.
Fair enough.
I don't think impeachments set precedent. They're designed be unique to each specific case since they're more of a political failsafe than any kind of justice system.
The way it's been explained to me, a sitting president doesn't need to do anything more than convince the congress he's too dangerous to continue being president to get impeached.
ehhhh I think it depends on WHAT they get Trump on...
It's going to be like Kavanaugh. What's actually going on will be irrelevant compared to party politics.
The Dems' notion of impeachment is entirely political at this point.
They're supposed to set precedent mech. Our entire system runs off of precedent. Otherwise you'd be perfectly justified in having every party simply impeach the others presidents because of whimsy. The dems are actively undermining the republic with this idiotic nonsense
The Dems aren't interested in justifying their actions to the other side. That would be the normal political discourse that the left abandoned a long time ago.
The left and right in the US have occupied separate moral universes for years and that situation is finally coming to a head.
I mean if you can impeach someone based on hearsay then I guess you can impeach anyone who gets accused of misconduct.
Unless you're a democrat, then rules dont apply to you
The bottom line is that a majority of the voting public doesn't know or care enough to boot the whole Congress out of office over the stupid shit they do. We get the leaders we demand.
A good three quarters or more of the country thinks their political ends justify any means.
big fax
most people know congress is corrupt, but they think *their* congressman is great
most people know the education system is broken and full of propaganda, but *their* school board is perfectly reasonable
Imagine Trump creates a private server
Sends thousands of irrelevant emails to foreign addresses.
Has server's existence leaked.
Accidentally "deletes" emails when requested.
"Recovers" and released innocuous emails days before thirds round of impeachment calls.
Calls for investigations into Clinton emails.
My God that would be hilarious.
Even better if all of the emails recovered weren't the least bit classified, they were all talking about how the FBI should be investigating the Clinton emails.
