When did I say "no you?"
???
That wasn't me making an argument
That was an observation.
That you're argument this entire time has been making me justify your position.
Okay let's go by objective standards. God's own moral standards contradict each other depending on where in the Bible you're reading.
I don't need to say his morality is correct to recognize it changes.
i'm gonna be honest idk what's even happening
Legalize is trying to deflect from my core question, which is how God can be a consistent standard of morality when even he sets different standards depending on the time period.
Why is it not okay to go on a genocidal spree against the heathens today, but it was in Joshua?
okay but then there was all this subjective talk
Yeah because he kept demanding I provide an objective standard for morality.
And there isn't.
Even amongst Christianity.
right, there isn't
same with just and right
i can't prove something is just
But you can using the modern understanding of what is just according to the west.
and moral as well
I never made a claim about definitive morality. I can observe when one's own morality is contradictory without having to accept morality is objective.
I can objectively state:
The Christian standard of morals, and the morals given to the Israelites in Joshua are contradictory. Therefore, "God" isn't a consistent standard for morality.
what's wrong about that statement
the morals are contradictory
I'm not making an argument on moral grounds.
the morals given are contradictory
is he wrong?
today's christian standard vs the standard given to the isrealites
right?
this has been going on for like 3 days so i didn't see where he made claims about his own morality
Back up a bit. In what way is the morality of God contradictory old testament to new?
Would you say that it would be moral by today's Christian standards to go through several Muslim cities and murder every man woman and child?
If not, then the book of Joshua contradicts the morals set forth by God after Christ.
And if I made an argument off my own morality, then it was unintentional. @Legalize
By what do we derive the word christian?
Christ
no it doesn't
I'm not even arguing if the acts taken place in the book of Joshua are moral or not. Just that according to Christ, (the same God) it is immoral.
^
i haven't seen him arguing whether they're moral or not
There is a reason the Jews worship Jehovah and Christ says his name is Jehovah.
The covenant thay christ made with the church is not the same one God made with Abraham
