@Black Cat I don't think humans will ever hold women to a higher standard to justify voting. It's too ingrained in our behaviors and there is no way women are going to change to be better leaders just because.

People previously held women to specific standards. The standards eroded because they didn't make sense with the more egalitarian direction we took things in, but I dont know that we came up with a good replacement system

I would argue society expects men to work a lot harder, even die, for the city vs women. It's different demands.

I don't think society expects women to take up arms and raise militias, but I don't see society demanding men do that either.

But men naturally gravitate towards that.

I would say the prior expectations were more strict, and thats what lead to the "liberation"/egalitarian movements. Instead of coming up with a more generalized set of standards though, we seem to be largely half-stumbling over the old ones while simultaneously trying to tear expectations down

I think that expectations for a society based on gender are helpful. But I'm also a fan of bringing back social shame.
I was a fatty for a long time, and I dressed like an edge lord.
That is until I met my husband, he's the most honest person I know..to a fault almost. He expects me to maintain self control over my eating and to be the feminine counterpart he needs.
I in turn expect him to be the masculine spider remover and protector of our family that I need. Boom even.
