Whattap. Long time listener, new to the server.
?
Another reason to avoid Hooters.
Welcome accepted.
Although the company I work for is pretty conservative (large insurance corporation), they have dabbled in the PC stuff like pandering in emails. I think it's just about image. Keep their image clean and money rolling in.
Yeah we have more like 1000+. It's very one-size-fits-all PC pandering.
On the other hand, at their Christmas party every year they get up there and thank sweet baby Jesus in front of the IT department which is made up of a lot of people from India and Pakistan. Lol
Nope. But sweet baby Jesus nevertheless.
I'm right there with 'em lol. Jesus has got nothing to do with our enterprise software.
The money makes the medicine go down.
That would be cool. I program accounting software. Steel-toed cubicles for me.
It sounds a lot duller than it is. A better way to put it is that I solve puzzles all day.
But every time I try to leave they find a way to keep me.
Sounds like expensive fuckups.
Holy shit
Good Lord, most I've done is kill production servers in the middle of backups.
Which is a huge headache, but not ten Grand worth.
"It's only ten grand. We all make mistakes."
Every time I see a boomer reference I can't help but picture the boomer enemies from Gears of War.
It doesn't really help anything when someone comes around to your point of view and you just insult them.
Wow my comment posted waaaay after I sent it. Ignore my last message
What is even going on in here right now lol
Your mom has a higher IQ.
No wait...
Welp I think I stumbled into the wrong room here.
Yikes
Man I came here bc I want to support gun rights and traditional gender roles. Wtf is going on in here.
I've been listening to the main podcast for probably a year. Listened to a couple call in shows. I have no idea who you are.
Okay dokey
Ah yes, the way to win someone over is insults.
Anyway, I'm always a day-after listener of the main show. The chat replay is turned off there. And I think I've done maybe 4 or 5 call in shows after the fact.
Like I said, just here because I'm a big supporter of gun rights and traditional gender roles. All this other stuff is noise.
I have no idea. Just have the woman follow and the man lead. That's where I stop caring about other people's affairs.
Lol what? Where did that come from? I'm taking marriage man.
Talking*
Okay dokey. That has literally nothing to do with marriage though.
Lol I legitimately can't tell if I walked into a sketch comedy
I think someone is going to point out a hidden camera or something.
Yeah it's like a group of edgy teenagers just discovered swearing and conspiracy theories lol. Definitely stocking around now.
Oh like Kevin Flanagan it whatever?
Okay this makes sense now
I'm adjusting my tuning as we speak.
I love you as well.
Welp, gotta go finish watching my plants grow. Later, virgins.
I'm back. Had to work on refinishing my floors. Looks like I missed some crazy talk.
They're not dark, we went stainless.
I'd say it's a nice blonde color.
Pine wood. Doesn't need stain. It gets all blotchy if you stain it.
Was there ever a Charlie Brown Kwanzaa?
A man's gotta eat.
Planned Parenthood is a federal agency?
Lol at this point, yeah.
It's a tough job but someone has to do it.
My title is Senior Application Analyst and Developer. Way too many fuckin words.
I prefer Java Junkie.
True.
FAG
Still technically contains more than three letters then.
I'm not sure you understand what initials are then.
I mean yes, but also no.
Oh, help desk IT! What's your help script like when people who make more money call you?
"Hello, customer care. Please ignore the insecurity in my voice and let me know how I can serve you."
Oh nice. Find something better?
Says the federal employee.
Fed up, amirite?
Department of Offense
NASA hit or miss. There's a pun in there I think.
Part of me is feels you can't scrap NASA. Look at all the cool shit they did. Then I remember most of that super cool stuff happened decades ago and now private companies are doing cooler shit.
"Outsourcing jobs is our strength."
We had an in-house monitoring team (kept an eye on overnight stuff basically) and it was great. Then they offshored that whole thing and now any time something goes wrong it's hours of headaches, saying "What?" a lot, and having to tell them what the documentation already says.
So shit is allegedly more secure, but nothing much of value gets done?
well that's a huge mistake
Only takes one time to lose everything.
So it's use it or lose it?
proof of concept
Lol - I guess if they are okay with losing data that often, why bother with redundancy?
Fuck man - our company has an entirely separate location underground where we have duplicated everything.
All we do in an emergency/disaster is flip a switch basically, and we're back up in location 2.
shoot
Outsource more?
Start an endless cycle of audits?
lol dropbox - I barely trust that with backups of memes
Garages and dorm rooms - the wombs of tech.
lol
Maybe it's just federal? The public library I used to work for had some real IT solutions, surprisingly.
Redundancy, decent security, in-house coders, etc.
It's not just the government fawning over the cloud buzzword. Our company is flirting with cloud nonsense right now. This architect who worked here convinced an entire division to move a whole application effort to a cloud platform, which required a complete change in how those people worked every day. Then he quit. Lol.
On one hand, yes. But as a corporate enterprise dev, I have to drink that kool aid because I get paid a lot to do so.
I feel like that's something I should know about, but don't, and won't search while at work.
What's the tl;dr?
Fallen that she would have nudes, store them in the cloud, or that someone would leak them?
ohhhhhhhhhhhhh
Leaking her nudes is truly a supreme disservice to humanity.
Is there a right toilet?
AWS == Amazon Web Services?
Fortunately I don't work for the googz, so being a scary straight white male hasn't been an issue here.
I'd have to count.
We're about to move a bunch of stuff to their web services. Also, a vendor we use just switched to them like last week. It's everywhere.
I can smell the lack of security from here.
No need for security clearance if there is no security *guy pointing finger at temple meme*
