Although the company I work for is pretty conservative (large insurance corporation), they have dabbled in the PC stuff like pandering in emails. I think it's just about image. Keep their image clean and money rolling in.

This architect who worked here convinced an entire division to move a whole application effort to a cloud platform, which required a complete change in how those people worked every day.
