I don't think criticisms of Israel are anti-Semitic inherently. As Israel is a government, and Semites are a biological group.
But other than that, yeah I do think she was snippy and could have used several chill pills.
The criticism of Israel was clearly directed at Ben because he is Jewish. Had it been Roaming hosting, there’s no way she would have mentioned Israel.
It’s also pisses me off because she used it to completely dodge the question. It’s impossible to debate leftists on fair terms right now because they all know how to misdirect, avoid answering the questions, and move the goal posts as needed.
Seeing as that’s exactly what my mother does, I’m guessing one of the reasons they’re so good at it is because they’re driven by emotion more so than reason.
I'm assuming it's because Ben is super in favor of everything Israel does, but he's got blindfolds on for everything Israel has ever done. I think it's good to support the US for example, but I'm not blind to the fact that Bill Clinton started wars and staged coups to further political agendas.
That said, yes she was dodging questions like they were laser beams.
It's frustrating for sure. But the biggest problem I have with debating with Leftists is that the goal post doesn't ever change, it never exists in the first place. They just throw haymaker arguments and hope that one of them is going to be a knockout. Even if you can reduce their point to its indefensible center, there's no way they'll back down. They don't have a religion or any sort of mythology to try their life by, so their political dogma takes its place.
What's worse is I'm seeing almost every peer in my life turning hard left because, "But wot about tha feelings?"
At one point I had a girl I was interested in tell me that it was un-christlike to support the travel ban. Despite the fact that Christ was all about following the letter of the law, submitting to the census of Caeser and advocating for paying taxes. Unrelated-ish. But this is a girl who at one point was a missionary. Total 180 for the sake of social justice.
I find it hilarious when the left tries to use Jesus to manipulate people. On one hand it’s ‘get your conservative Christian values out of politics’, then its ‘supporting this policy is unchristian so you should feel bad’. Seriously? Especially with illegal immigration, the thought that the Mexican government should be the one changing never crosses their mind.
@Psychlops924 i'm surprised you brought up the israel thing instead of her blatant admission to tossing out all we know about law and justice
If we're talking jesus then i want to mention the temple scene again
where jesus goes ape shit on a bunch of people desecrating the temple
Jesus gets mad at people who desecrate his and his father's house
sound familiar?
I have a father, we live in a house, that house is in the US, people who come, do not provide any sort of benefit to our society, yet continually take from it are desecrating it.
Yes, I'm mad
@Holo it’s more that that. The Bible, especially the New Testament, does not take an explicit political position on immigration. That means you can’t really argue that any position on the issue is explicitly unchristian. In reality, using Jesus as a political weapon is pretty unchristian.
You are right that lefty types ignore the fire and brimstone.
That too lol
People kind of forget that yes, help the poor, the sick, the weak
but not if it puts you in their position as well
Well, those are individual commands not societal commands
Plus people who abuse the system, who are not looking for help, only sustenance, are not poor
Then again i wouldn't consider myself a christian so who am i to talk to the religious aspect
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
that and don't care
My sister has works at a food distribution charity. She has told me that some people are incredibly ungrateful.
you'd be impressed how picky poor people are
/r/choosingbeggars is a fun sub
Well, that’s definitely true. I have met some incredibly grateful poor people. They actually understand humility and don’t complain that they are getting more canned green beans.
aye
I've given some money here and there to some people who asked
Some people are really grateful
others just kinda give you the same spiel
I was driving with my mom one time
this woman was begging on the side of the road
we stopped at a gas station right next to the highway exit
after we were done we saw her coming out of the store with scratch offs
like jesus christ
my dad met a guy in new york who's job was literally begging on the streets
he'd go out, put on nasty clothes, beg on the street, stop for the day, put on a suit and tie and go home to his wife and kids
people like to complain about capitalism and corporate greed and yes no doubt that's an issue
but this taking culture we have, where people just expect handouts to fuel their desires and not their needs is ridiculous too
Where I grew up, I saw a guy in the city who had a cane and acted like he couldn’t walk. I then saw him turn a corner further down the street and run up a hill. I was really young, like 7 or 8, when I saw that. To this day I’m very skeptical about beggars. I want to help, but I can’t shake the assumption that they may be faking it.
if i had a surplus of money
