Politicians are better at avoiding the truth than lying. That's not to say that they don't lie, because we all know they do. It is a whole lot easier to placate their base when they can honestly say that they never said a law they passed would do something they didn't like
Pretty much
SJWs will either dodge your question or be wrong. I won't accuse the majority of them of lying. I'd sooner say they are stupid or slippery
Both in most cases
True that.
The first wave of toddlers have come. 😃
This is the part where you eat the candy at the door and throw the wrappers in their pails
Lol. ‘You all said trick or treat right. Well here’s a trick. Disappearing candy.’
What do y’all think about the death penalty? For or against? @RoadtoDawn @Deleted User @grant @SteelandSouls @ClashOfChampions
It's a great idea
@oktophonie I’ll be honest. I’m on the fence. What’s your reasoning behind supporting it?
hard to explain properly or in a way which won't seem too extreme even for these surroundings. but not because I think it is a good deterrent, and I'm also sceptical that there's really any way to implement it properly (in terms of how it's carried out)
Ok.
and I'm in the UK anyway so it's not something we ever really have to confront
Good point. I just want to think this topic through. I hear good points on both sides, so I’m still not sure.
Our founders thought it was good, so that is a good reason enough to say, for. But if i had to ponder it, that would take a lot of time for me.
I'd rather work on dealing with recidivism and fixing the broken people before putting them down. I'd rather put it to use for the Charles Manson's of the world
Give everyone a fair trial, but I'm for it
@Shadows yeah. It’s a complicated issue. I’m not exactly sure which position is correct. I need to think about it more.
My reasoning behind supporting it is the inherent value I place on life
@SteelandSouls right, but that means you still support it for extreme cases.
Yeah
I'd say it was relative, or some bs reasoning
Same for abortion. I'm against abortion except in the extreme case where the mother's life is at risk
@RoadtoDawn So, your position is that the proper punishment for causing extreme human suffering (like brutal murders) is the death penalty.
Give people the proper amount of time to make their peace with God. Then when it's appropriate for the state, put them to death
@SteelandSouls fair enough. I think the same way too. If the woman’s life is in danger, then it’s ok. Not if she’s a stupid whore.
@RoadtoDawn sounds similar to what CS Lewis says.
I've heard good stuff about him
Have you read mere Christianity? It’s good.
I only read scripture and the church fathers
That’s great. CS Lewis presents some interesting arguments. One of my family friends (he’s like an uncle to me) came to Christ reading that book.
I just had a thought on the birthright citizenship thing. The line "subject to do jurisdiction there of". I want to propose the argument that illegal immigrants in sanctuary states aren't subject to the authority of the US so their children don't get citizenship. What do you guys think of that argument?
It's been made, certainly
No call in tonight?
Not this week or next week
@grant bit tricky, imo, because that opens up the avenue that illegal immigrants who are not in sanctuary cities could then be considered as under the jurisdiction of the US
Unless a provision is specifically inserted wherein foreign aliens are by default not included except when indicted/convicted of/for capital crimes etc
@Agent Smith oh mate I am not looking forward to summer
34 where I am right now and it feels like 45 in my shop
