I dunno if this is something people wanna bring up on the call-in show or make an email out of or what, but if it's the latter I can send a rough draft in

2018-11-14 20:42:29 UTC

I don't have an issue with the premise being brought up. Personally, I'd wait until something like a rough draft could be drawn up to present but if you guys feel it wouldn't hurt to address it now, I won't object. I'd use an e-mail over the Call-In Show. Although the Call-In Show would be good in getting the message out, it doesn't allow enough time for some consideration to the matter.

2018-11-14 20:42:47 UTC

Fair enough

2018-11-14 20:43:01 UTC

And tbh I don't think it would take long to draw up a rough draft as it stands

2018-11-14 20:49:31 UTC

Alright. So you'll handle the draft?

2018-11-14 20:50:51 UTC

Yeah I'll start writing it up while I wait for violin. I'll group DM y'all with what I've got after that and you can let me know what I've missed

2018-11-14 20:51:06 UTC

Sounds like a plan

2018-11-14 20:51:25 UTC

Tbh the bigger task than the plan is finding a way to put it into action

2018-11-14 20:53:54 UTC

I'm not sure if it will be or not. Sure, you have the legal tape to hop over that any good lawyer can help you maneuver. I think in terms of getting men behind it, it's all in the messaging. Hell, I just thought up a commercial for it now while I was typing it. Once you get the public on your side, things tend to fall in line. At least in my humble understanding of it

2018-11-14 20:55:00 UTC

I mean that this process takes work on everyone's part, and there's no real carrot in modern society to match up with that stick, particularly if you're starting off with people in isolation rather than a localized community. We'll see though

2018-11-14 20:56:25 UTC

You're not wrong. I think as long as we have a unified front on the matter, it will be easier than if we sporadically did a bunch of incoherent startups

2018-11-14 21:00:23 UTC

Fair

2018-11-14 21:01:43 UTC

I had a conversation with a customer last night about politics in Australia

2018-11-14 21:02:06 UTC

Did he call you gay, kick you in the shin, and run away?

2018-11-14 21:02:12 UTC

And it was very cordial, there’s plenty of disagreement but that’s okay

2018-11-14 21:02:20 UTC

Nah it was a friendly elderly gentleman

2018-11-14 21:02:30 UTC

But one line he said in that discussion bothered me

2018-11-14 21:03:09 UTC

He said "We must ensure the future for our race"

2018-11-14 21:03:29 UTC

“I’ve lived here my entire life and every time it’s the same; Liberals (the so-called right wing here) take from the welfare programs and stack the rich and Labor (the left wing) just puts it back”

2018-11-14 21:03:42 UTC

Now I have two issues with that statement

2018-11-14 21:04:38 UTC

First is just because I’ve only been in and out of Australia for the past eleven years doesn’t mean I don’t understand the dynamic of politics here, which is basically left wing lite and psychotic commie wannabes

2018-11-14 21:05:41 UTC

The second is when I pointed out to him that the premise of cutting welfare programs was to stop the whole country from going bankrupt, he got visibly upset and asked me when I got here

2018-11-14 21:06:11 UTC

Upon which his point was that the moment I got to Australia was when Labor was going through some shit, but it was all because of the Liberals

2018-11-14 21:06:43 UTC

Cordial except for the "You're an outsider and don't know what you're talking about" part

2018-11-14 21:07:16 UTC

And I’m like well... but the point is that even before that _both_ of them have been steadily driving us off a financial cliff, and only the Liberals have any sort of plan/have done anything even remotely resembling addressing the problem of spending

2018-11-14 21:07:33 UTC

Yeah p much

2018-11-14 21:08:00 UTC

And it expanded to the whole “but you gotta take care of the people who can’t help themselves” schtick

2018-11-14 21:08:15 UTC

You have to....at gun point

2018-11-14 21:08:22 UTC

And I’m like yes, but the best way to do that is to cut taxes from the people who already have work

2018-11-14 21:08:31 UTC

“No but those cuts only benefit the rich”

2018-11-14 21:08:39 UTC

And at that point I realized it was a lost cause

2018-11-14 21:09:44 UTC

Isn't it great when people are so deluded that they default to rhetoric even though they can see the evidence for themselves?

2018-11-14 21:09:59 UTC

I just... I don’t think I’ve had a clearer picture of cognitive dissonance in my personal life before

2018-11-14 21:10:16 UTC

Please flip Talking Points Cassette to Side B

2018-11-14 21:11:30 UTC

And the funny thing is, in my uni years, I had a long form discussion with this French guy where he insisted you can tax _only_ the rich and get away with a fuckton of social programs “just like France”

2018-11-14 21:12:00 UTC

And I’m like yeah but the average tax rate there for _everyone_ is like 70% and it’s still slowly going bankrupt

2018-11-14 21:12:04 UTC

What idiots. They can’t even do basic math.

2018-11-14 21:12:10 UTC

French have a nasty habit of constantly citing France

2018-11-14 21:12:29 UTC

I should know, I've worked with one for 2 years

2018-11-14 21:13:19 UTC

I worked with one who genuinely believed and claimed that France did nothing wrong in Indo China

2018-11-14 21:14:03 UTC

I agreed with her that France brought a different level of civilisation to that entire area, but it also pretty much destroyed the culture and oppressed the people
