@Shadows
At this point, I wish Donny were a Russian agent, at least that way it'd be interesting.
right now its just a bunch of repetitive nonsense from the left and their media
@d3adlyz3bra No, i was just making the sad joke that some people believe still.
@Mandatory Carry That would be fun.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Trump should start throwing russian parties at the white house.
I mean, Melania is Slovenian, plenty of leftists probably think that counts as Russia.
sometimes being Aussie is awesome, I just saw a story about a Kangaroo loose in my hometown and the police are searching for it

Yeah, he has already made a new one. Still trying to get a link for it
Does anyone have a reasonable explanation of why children think that unions are the magical cure for all the problems that the game development industry faces? The answers I'm getting on reddit mostly seem to be of the 'DOWNVOTE THE THOUGHT CRIMINAL!' variety.
It isn't that they think it is that they have been told. The union removes the need to be competitive with other workers and the need to be your own negotiator. Which is very hard considering it isn't a skill that is used by many. When is the last time you went to a retail store and bartered a price?
People have gotten lazy and now people just accept the first thing that gets slapped on their face wage/salary wise.
Union does the work for you and all you have to do is pay them some of your money to do something for you
Yeah, the actual answers people have given make me think they actually have no answer to that question beyond "Jim Sterling said it would make everything better!" or something similar.
I assumed as such
The real issue is developers are unwilling when it comes to it to use negotiation tactics. Which I understand in larger companies where companies can hire younger developers for less money.
Ultimately you are screwed as a developer until "gamers rise up" and actually remember they are a consumer and they hold all the power.
Honestly though as most children's entertainment goes most people consuming it are either kids or stunted adults. So asking them to both smarten up with their money when for the majority it isn't even their money is a hard sell.
Unions exist to only benefit employees. They do nothing for the company and nothing for the consumers.
The left likes unions because they take control of them and force everything to go in the direction they like.
Just seems like the usual response of trying to break the laws of supply/demand
The game industry workers suffer from being near-infinitely replaceable. So, rather than have to compete against each other by working longer hours for lower wages, they figure they can just team up and make those problems go away
I simply decided I didn't want to compete in such a market and got a regular tech job as a software developer. I work fewer hours and (effectively) get paid more. Amazing how that works.
Yeah. It’s like they don’t understand that there’s an oversupply in the market.
They also don't get that it goes both ways: if an employer in such an oversaturated market wanted to pay them better wages or not have long working hours, other companies would beat them to market and they'd fail anyway.
I feel like there should be a middle ground of complete control of unions and just a larger more knowledgable entity to assist employees
anyone see this?
my reaction...
Cynet may very well be one of the contracting companies that my employer does business with. If that's the case, most of their current employees are Indian
Yeah I was wondering if this was an attempted diversity initiative with bad optics, if not a joke that accidentally made it through lol
If you can hire someone cuz they're black or Mexican you can for white people as well.. otherwise it's just hypocritical
So there were two results of my little conversation on Reddit where I asked how unions would save the game Dev industry.
1) The whole argument pisses me off even more now, because the few people that did respond made it clear that they have no idea how unions would help, they are just regurgitating what they've been told by others.
2) I got banned from that sub because some cunt tried to pretend like posting on The Donald invalidated my opinion and I told him to eat shit and die.
It's almost like most of reddit is left wing echo chambers.
There are definitely some bad conditions in the gaming industry, but I think that may be the result of everyone and their dog wanting to work in it. I think if people realize it's not all it's cracked up to be the labor supply will drop and they'll have to make some changes
I would have figured the same, but it hasn't happened yet, and this stuff has been going on for years.
