thinking Dallas
His argument focuses entirely on rights with absolutely no consideration that actions undertaken by adults might carry concomitant responsibilities.
oooh I've heard that word before
I hate the guy in the vid
I dont think ill make it through
For instance, that by having sex you might in fact be consenting to the responsibility for any offspring that result.
No crap.
Should be obvious
Yeah he is using every rhetorical trick in the book to make his opponents seem inconsistent without actually attacking their arguments directly.
Well, the first two arguments I heard were garbage so I stopped watching
If you bring up fertility clinics in a discussion about abortion then you are just being dishonest
The idea that a person's responsibility for a random unrelated person ought to be exactly equivalent to their responsibility for 1) their own family members and 2) a child they created themselves is ludicrous.
Well, kind of. I actually think that was one of his stronger points. Only effective if you believe *conception* is 'the line' though.
Did he bring up the violinist argument
Yes that was the whole middle of the video
It’s a really stupid argument
Of course, because it ignores the question of responsibility.
Right and it only addresses rape. Nothing else.
Hey uhhh, what're you guys talking about?
Abortion
The Everdebate
Yeah jonclive posted a pro-choice video above
Asking for opinions.
@Salacious Swanky Cat yeah I didn't even think about the fact that the kidnapping scenario is the direct equivalent of a rape.
Exactly. That’s the only situation it addresses.
And it doesn’t even prove that abortion is acceptable.
The argument is sneakily attempting to assert that consensual procreative sex is equivalent to rape if the woman merely changes her mind later.
Which is basically the standard that modern feminism uses anyway.
The problem with the whole abortion thing is the fact that they cant prove that killing the baby isn't murder
It’s just the person stating that their personal convenience is more important than life.
They'll never make progress
There's nearly no middle ground
Even in cases of rape it's still a baby they're killing
More important than *a life they bear the burden of responsibility for through their own choice* @Salacious Swanky Cat
to be clear, I am adamantly pro-life
The only way they can ever get someone on the pro life side to change their mind is if they're not entirely pro life
@Clive good.
so much that I'm contemplating shifting by opinion on death penalty
Gross
Lol
