I was thinking earlier if you were take the world and divide it's populated areas into roughly even small regions like 10 square kms or something like that and then held a global plebiscite to decide what country (existing or new) each region would belong to how would the world change?
I wonder how many countries there would be, what the borders would be like and how that would impact more conflicted regions of the world like the Middle east, Africa and the Balkans
