"I'm an American and it's my God-given right to criticize whoever the hell I want"
I have a pretty strict +/- 3 rules for me
I grew up protestant (episcopal) and I have serious issues with a lot of episcopal churches
+3 because any older would be... I guess unworkable considering my age
-3 because any younger and my daughter would be treating her closer to a sister than a mother
And that would just be weird
seems legit
@Deleted User I'd say my rule is +4 and -3
since I'm 21
You're not pushing 30 though @A. Spader
yeah exactly
don;t want the federales to have any reason to raid my house
I'm 28, and childless, so I've got different considerations
That's fair
Any of you have opinions on Bethel Church? They are into some weird kundalini spirit shit and supernatural healing. They take over smaller Protestant congregations.
Bethel is bad
imho
They also control the Christian film and music industry I think. They made Unplanned.
Percentage of religious v non secular of fans we think?
Of the show I mean
the doctrine isn't nuts but it's like that scene in King of the Hill where Hank asks if this is the cult
Church of Sweden is trying to make God gender neutral and change all the pronouns in their bibles
Church of sweden stopped caring about God ages ago
imo
(I say this being more than half swede)
They did. Its just gone rapidly worse in terms of them actually becoming political
The catholics have a point in that there should be more organization/structure with the church, but I think they are entirely too rigid with some things and I think they have the _wrong idea_ with some other things regarding their role.
Protestants counter the rigidity of the catholic church by establishing their own communities. This works in a number of ways can be good an bad. Sometimes the substitute the rigid and unforgiving catholic method with their own rigid an unforgiving method. Protestant churches are a little more free to develop in to cult-like communities which can range from benign to dangerous. Protestants also have these bizarre arguments with eachother over a lot of minutiae which I just don't understand why so much of it is _so important_ that you felt compelled to fracture and start your own church elsewhere.
@Gunner Fox well said
However there's a lot of division even in the roman catholic church over minutiae also which isn't widely talked about and I think that may be because there's an orthodoxy for disagreements in the catholic church.
@A. Spader cheers
@Gunner Fox Well the Catholic-EO split was over something trivial imho
It was literally an iota of difference, if I remember right
I wouldn't call power trivial
We should all join the Pentecostal Church and learn their secret angel language
my read on the RC-EO split was that it was far more about who controlled the mechanics of the church than a theological disagreement
@Homegrownsumo I don't think I know enough about our demographics to even take a guess
