Yup

2019-10-18 22:32:55 UTC

As long as we're at it Beyond Meat is also ridiculously bad for you

2019-10-18 22:33:06 UTC

At least veganism will eventually select out

2019-10-18 22:33:34 UTC

Reminds me of how Ireland is getting boned by green initiatives planting non native Sitka Spruce

2019-10-18 22:34:26 UTC

Yeah good luck with that

2019-10-18 22:34:49 UTC

Planting non native tree species worked so fucking great for California

2019-10-18 22:35:01 UTC

*plot twist, it didnt*

2019-10-18 22:35:28 UTC

😂

2019-10-18 22:35:38 UTC

@Black Cat yeah its gonna get hard for all the soyboys to reproduce eventually with all that estrogen

2019-10-18 22:35:43 UTC

But the eucalyptus!

2019-10-18 22:36:05 UTC

BUT THE EUCALYPTUS SMELLS SO GOOD AND WE CAN MAKE ESSENTIAL OILS OUT OF THEM

2019-10-18 22:36:28 UTC

Not when you're burned to a crisp you're not

2019-10-18 22:36:45 UTC

That was Straya's greatest, longest term troll

2019-10-18 22:36:52 UTC

Time to build a wall

2019-10-18 22:36:56 UTC

And how perfect that it bloomed on lefty California

2019-10-18 22:37:01 UTC

Around California

2019-10-18 22:40:07 UTC

@Beemann *imagine my shock*

2019-10-18 22:49:42 UTC

It's almost as if our constant attempts at ecological intervention lead to awful side effects

2019-10-18 23:38:37 UTC

>invasive species are bad. lol

2019-10-18 23:38:53 UTC
2019-10-18 23:40:35 UTC

They're making money and being green though. What could go wrong?

2019-10-18 23:40:43 UTC

To be honest, you should probably take that guardian article with a grain of salt. Often times lefty environmentalists get the ecological science incorrect, so you have to do extra vetting on their claims.

2019-10-18 23:45:48 UTC

Irish papers are reporting on it too. Apparently in the UK and Scandinavia it's been classified similarly and they've been yeeting it

2019-10-18 23:48:17 UTC

I’d have to look into it more. It is a general rule of thumb that invasive species aren’t a good thing though.

2019-10-18 23:48:32 UTC

Think kudzu in the southeast

2019-10-18 23:48:34 UTC

They're apparently growing it as a cash crop and it's at the cost of native species

2019-10-18 23:48:41 UTC

I think of the pine beetle here

2019-10-18 23:48:58 UTC

Well, pine beetles are native, but still devastating

2019-10-18 23:49:23 UTC

Kudzu is from Japan or something and it covers thousands of acres in the southeast

2019-10-18 23:49:37 UTC

No natural predators makes it grow like crazy

2019-10-18 23:49:57 UTC

Another good example is the hemlock wooly adelgid.

2019-10-18 23:50:48 UTC

Really bad one. That invasive bug has practically devastated the entire eastern hemlock population on the east coast.

2019-10-18 23:52:14 UTC

The pine beetle issue is that they've been running the risk of spreading beyond their normal historic habitat

2019-10-18 23:56:17 UTC

That’s probably because of climate change

2019-10-18 23:56:23 UTC

For real

2019-10-18 23:57:29 UTC

In the normal pine beetle territory, there are cycles of how bad the destruction can be.

2019-10-18 23:58:26 UTC

Well, climate change or management practices.

2019-10-18 23:58:39 UTC

I’d have to look at maps to be sure.

2019-10-19 00:02:28 UTC

Right but thats what was causing it to be a potential invasive species was my point
