'Ban porn!' is just a marketing strategy to get people talking about the pros and cons of porn.
If the porn ban debate causes ban opponents to realize how much they're actually controlled by porn then it's already working.
Agreed, less porn use is better. But an actual ban is a silly waste of time.
Adults can choose to better themselves or not. If you have kids, monitor their Internet habits (i.e. be a parent). Problem solved.
This is like the whole "ban violent video games" thing from the 90s.
Common porn laws lol
It's illegal for people under 18 to view it
You will never stop 14 year olds from finding it online currently
I recall finding it around 11 and that was in the late '90s.
Even on dial-up, there was motivation.
Cool so I'm going to install a pneumatic tube in your child's bedroom that pushes heroin into the room that they can self administer in whatever dose size or frequency they'd like and if you don't find out about it even though I don't have to get your permission you're a bad parent
And if you do find the tube and take it out I can install another one at your child's request without your permission again
Imagine thinking that what Kevin Jr wrote is any way a reasonable comparison or has any relevance at all. We are now dumber for having listened to you. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.
We don't need to stop 14 year-olds as much as we need to execute pornographers.
@PiusXIII there are so many loopholes is what you just said that I think I'm getting dizzy
Don't put a computer in your child's bedroom, Kevin.
Or do and use something like pfSense to secure and filter their connection. Won't stop everything, but it's a move toward, you know, actual parenting.
You can also see traffic logs on that if you choose, so you can be a parent and monitor their online behavior that way.
My household has no electronics in the kid’s bedroom
All I had in my room when I was a kid was a game console and TV, but that was before online gaming on consoles took off.
NES for the win.
Co signed
I still have my NES
And games
I like you, @The Bitter Draught . You co sign on my stuff.
NES generation has to stick together
Guess we lost Kevin Jr. Must be furiously beating his meat and feeling guilty.
I couldn’t game when controllers got more than than 8 buttons
Lol I was gonna say
He's on a trip down to South Wankston.
Im not gonna lie I made full use of the early internet when it showed up
It was the wild west, man. You had to explore.
And the fact that absolutely outrageous porn in infinite quantities is now available for free is not lost on me
However the individual and the family has to figure out how to naviagte these waters
I do find it darkly amusing that if you go to a brewery's website, you have to click a thing saying you're 21. But you hit the 'Hub and there is no facade of an age check.
Didn't there used to be?
I would also counter that a lot of these fellows seem to be saying porn has removed their ability to form real relationships with women. If that’s the case I don’t think a porn ban is going to turn them into studs
There have been socially awkward meat beaters since the dawn of time
The skill to present yourself to a woman as a potential mate is almost entirely unrelated to porno
