Yes, just like banning drugs reduced drug use and banning gambling reduced gambling and banning alcohol reduced alcohol
Oh wait, all of those things increased? Weird
When I was kid, this was before the internet had images mind you, we youngings depended upon total chads leaving hustler and playbor mags in bushes near playgroubds
No joke the best place to find porno was a tree stump near a playground
People will always find a way to get what they want.
I mean, it's a ban. Super effective.
Also half the guys callingg for the porna ban probably just finished wiping their hands off before calling in
The word ban is right in the word ban.
And the responsibility is not the government's. It's our own.
You're also not addressing the issue leading to it. Drug addiction, and really all addiction, isn't because of the availability of the addictive product . It's because of mental issues, problematic home life, depression, feelings of uselessness and a loss of drive and purpose in life. Those are what need to be addressed in society. Repairing the family unit, reinforcing traditional values society wide, etc etc. Those are solutions to the problem
So if you're proposing a ban on something, you're already admitting defeat in addressing the real issues and trying to find a lazy and simple way out that simply won't work
the whole concept of a porn ban is to scare sheeple in to agreeing to the idea of requiring ID to use the internet, thereby eliminating anonymity on the internet
You don’t cure obesity by outlawing size xXXL clothes
Or trans fats or fried foods etc
Exactly
Generally speaking, most conservatives are about individual rights and responsibility, why is this one different?
For my own 7 year old son. I fully expect there’s no way he won’t find porn when he’s older but I intend to a. Sit down and talk with him about it (awkwardly) and b. His cell phone spends the night in the parents bedroom
When hes off to college hes on his own
'Ban porn!' is just a marketing strategy to get people talking about the pros and cons of porn.
If the porn ban debate causes ban opponents to realize how much they're actually controlled by porn then it's already working.
Adults can choose to better themselves or not. If you have kids, monitor their Internet habits (i.e. be a parent). Problem solved.
This is like the whole "ban violent video games" thing from the 90s.
Common porn laws lol
It's illegal for people under 18 to view it
You will never stop 14 year olds from finding it online currently
I recall finding it around 11 and that was in the late '90s.
Even on dial-up, there was motivation.
Cool so I'm going to install a pneumatic tube in your child's bedroom that pushes heroin into the room that they can self administer in whatever dose size or frequency they'd like and if you don't find out about it even though I don't have to get your permission you're a bad parent
And if you do find the tube and take it out I can install another one at your child's request without your permission again
Imagine thinking that what Kevin Jr wrote is any way a reasonable comparison or has any relevance at all. We are now dumber for having listened to you. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.
We don't need to stop 14 year-olds as much as we need to execute pornographers.
@PiusXIII there are so many loopholes is what you just said that I think I'm getting dizzy
Don't put a computer in your child's bedroom, Kevin.
Or do and use something like pfSense to secure and filter their connection. Won't stop everything, but it's a move toward, you know, actual parenting.
You can also see traffic logs on that if you choose, so you can be a parent and monitor their online behavior that way.
My household has no electronics in the kid’s bedroom
Pretty easy for parents to enforce actually if you have enough balls to stand up to your children
All I had in my room when I was a kid was a game console and TV, but that was before online gaming on consoles took off.
NES for the win.
