The path to heaven isnt easy

2019-12-21 18:07:54 UTC

I'd rather look cute than go to heaven

2019-12-21 18:08:13 UTC

Am I even allowed to do bdsm in heaven? Doubt it

2019-12-21 18:08:21 UTC

💤 boring

2019-12-21 18:08:25 UTC

You'll look cuter in heaven tho

2019-12-21 18:08:40 UTC

I wouldn't care in heaven though

2019-12-21 18:08:43 UTC

No sex or drugs

2019-12-21 18:08:48 UTC

I'm hell you will be twisted in the worst form imaginable

2019-12-21 18:08:57 UTC

You will have happiness instead of pleasure

2019-12-21 18:09:24 UTC

Brb

So let's say someone has a problem with their heart or another vital organ and needs surgery to fix it and improve their chances for survival. Or even if they have depression and need medication to help them find relief from it. Is it immoral to go through with the surgery or take the medication because you're rejecting the role you've been given, i.e. being unhealthy and miserable?

2019-12-21 18:10:55 UTC

I'm curious to see where God draws the line with such things.

2019-12-21 18:12:09 UTC

There is a difference between treatment for an illness and completely changing your body so you can reject your expected role

2019-12-21 18:12:30 UTC

Also I'm actually unsure about organ donations

2019-12-21 18:12:46 UTC

Christians aren't really supposed to donate their organs

2019-12-21 18:12:57 UTC

Which may imply receiving an organ is also immoral

2019-12-21 18:13:21 UTC

And I'm pretty sceptical when it comes to drug treatments for many mental illnesses

2019-12-21 18:13:43 UTC

Well, I do know that people of certain religious affiliations (I think Jehovah's Witnesses do this?) refuse to accept organ transplants because they think it's immoral

2019-12-21 18:15:21 UTC

There is also something I find strange about having another's heart inside you. Often the heart of someone younger given to someone older.

2019-12-21 18:15:32 UTC

It disturbs me

2019-12-21 18:20:11 UTC

Anyway, how do we tell which things are illnesses and which are just expected roles? If your "expected role" is causing you distress (i.e. gender dysphoria), would it not make sense to treat it as a form of illness as well and try to mitigate it by changing the thing that's causing you distress in the first place? It seems to me that your argument could just as easily be applied to, for example, depressed people, as it could be said that being depressed is just their given role designated by their biology and that it's immoral to try to change that.

2019-12-21 18:20:46 UTC

Suffering is caused by sin

2019-12-21 18:20:57 UTC

The through suffer comes greater good

2019-12-21 18:21:06 UTC

Even in treatment people suffer

2019-12-21 18:21:21 UTC

It is good to show mercy to others

2019-12-21 18:21:50 UTC

Do not be so one minded about this

2019-12-21 18:22:14 UTC

Both punishment and salvation come from God

2019-12-21 18:22:28 UTC

Suffering and elevation

2019-12-21 18:22:53 UTC

How do you know this?

2019-12-21 18:23:25 UTC

The words of saints

2019-12-21 18:23:27 UTC

It seems highly faith-based

2019-12-21 18:24:32 UTC

Isn't it possible that those saints could have just been lying or delusional or something?

2019-12-21 18:26:59 UTC

Nope

2019-12-21 18:41:09 UTC

Why not? Is it not true that all humans are fallible?

2019-12-21 18:46:07 UTC

"There is a difference between treatment for an illness and completely changing your body to reject a social role" what if I'm changing my body to treat gender dysphoria @Danacrag

2019-12-21 18:52:36 UTC

That is terminal gender dysphoria imo @chaizu

2019-12-21 18:53:26 UTC

Eh?

2019-12-21 18:53:51 UTC

Do you uh

2019-12-21 18:53:57 UTC

Do you know what terminal means
