So maybe Spotify is not the problem, but somehow poweramp has a more generic solution

2017-07-15 19:03:36 UTC

what do you mean by weird magic?

2017-07-15 19:03:59 UTC

spotify has a shitty attempt at gain control built in

2017-07-15 19:04:15 UTC

so maybe there's a software fix for this?

2017-07-15 19:04:51 UTC

if it happens on multiple devices then it isnt a software issue

2017-07-15 19:05:07 UTC

Poweramp has some additional layers between. I remember the initial reason for me to buy poweramp in 2009 was because my HTC Desire could not have an equalizer because of the sound chip, and yet poweramp offered one

2017-07-15 19:05:54 UTC

It does some additional audio manipulation on application level. How I don't know, it's closed source

2017-07-15 19:06:03 UTC

i just rooted my phone and got lineage os

2017-07-15 19:06:07 UTC

And AFAIK, it's the only android player doing so

2017-07-15 19:06:10 UTC

it has an equalizer built in

2017-07-15 19:06:12 UTC

Just plugged them into Ruizu X02

2017-07-15 19:06:22 UTC

Yes, every modern smartphone does

2017-07-15 19:06:34 UTC

They don't freak out at full vol but they become very loud

2017-07-15 19:06:52 UTC

what do you mean by freak out?

2017-07-15 19:07:39 UTC

they become so loud they start to sputter

2017-07-15 19:07:49 UTC

sputter?

2017-07-15 19:07:56 UTC

you might have something stuck on the diaphragm

2017-07-15 19:08:06 UTC

though if it happens in both sides id be skeptical

2017-07-15 19:08:08 UTC

They cut in and out

2017-07-15 19:08:19 UTC

probably your phone clipping and having a fit then

2017-07-15 19:08:29 UTC

that's more likely

2017-07-15 19:09:15 UTC

now that i think about it whats actually happening is the phone switches output from the speakers to the earpieces rapidly

2017-07-15 19:09:52 UTC

it detects when something is plugged in and sends signal to the 3.5mm

2017-07-15 19:09:56 UTC

all digital shit

2017-07-15 19:09:59 UTC

that's it.

2017-07-15 19:10:01 UTC

mhm

2017-07-15 19:10:13 UTC

any other headphones have problems with that phone?

2017-07-15 19:10:15 UTC

if yes

2017-07-15 19:10:18 UTC

phone's fucked

2017-07-15 19:10:42 UTC

I'd assume so since it's chinkshit

2017-07-15 19:11:01 UTC

never had any problems with my redmi

2017-07-15 19:11:05 UTC

I also wonder if it is killing my iems

2017-07-15 19:11:12 UTC

doubt it

2017-07-15 19:11:23 UTC

probably just chinky mfkg

2017-07-15 19:11:31 UTC

maybe stuff got in your 3.5 mm jack hole

2017-07-15 19:11:34 UTC

because ive had iems die in all phones

2017-07-15 19:12:01 UTC

i did have an issue with a moto x and lint in the jack because of their shitty port design

2017-07-15 19:12:06 UTC

your ear drums would break before your iems

2017-07-15 19:12:23 UTC

at least from raw signal

2017-07-15 20:24:14 UTC

xiaomi's stock white headphones

2017-07-15 20:24:17 UTC

are SO GOOD
