Just to start to break down the dye, yeah

2018-05-17 02:04:22 UTC

get some black anodized aluminum and trial & Error

2018-05-17 02:05:24 UTC

Eh, that's more effort than I care to do. Worst case if the heat gun doesn't work, I'll step up to propane, then to Map-Pro

2018-05-17 02:05:32 UTC

ok

2018-05-17 02:05:49 UTC

just don't go overboard

2018-05-17 02:06:06 UTC

The worst-case I'd realistically get is it gets too light

2018-05-17 02:06:10 UTC

I'd say run the laythe slowly, get a nice even heat

2018-05-17 02:07:19 UTC

Yeah, I'll drop it to 500RPM

2018-05-17 02:07:25 UTC

good deal

2018-05-17 02:07:47 UTC

I'll probably half-ass chucking it up, because I don't have anything good to keep from marring it, so I don't want it fucking off on me anyways.

2018-05-17 02:08:28 UTC

Gf got chink'd on her 30 dollar smartwatch

2018-05-17 02:08:54 UTC

She feels it'd be morally wrong to demand at least a partial refund for how shit it is

2018-05-17 02:09:16 UTC

how is it wrong to demand recompense for being chinked?

2018-05-17 02:10:45 UTC

At least she'd likely get her money back, and they won't ask for it back

2018-05-17 02:11:11 UTC

The screen is literally worse than a gameboy's

2018-05-17 02:11:27 UTC

that seems a bit of an embelishment

2018-05-17 02:14:00 UTC

fuck man, gotta go to work and wait 10 hours to go home

I can discern individual pixels from an arm's length

2018-05-17 02:33:27 UTC

What do you guys do with these flashlights

2018-05-17 02:33:37 UTC

Do you blind wild animals or someshit

2018-05-17 02:36:47 UTC

The North American Urban Ape

2018-05-17 02:40:36 UTC

use them as toys

2018-05-17 02:49:22 UTC

Do they last long? Would it be a good idea to strap one as a bike light?

2018-05-17 02:49:48 UTC

2018-05-17 02:56:38 UTC

fix;d

2018-05-17 03:01:02 UTC

@ChairmanKaga I honestly don't have a good answer for you on the bigger ones. They're just a silly thing that I enjoy. The small ones are great day to day for seeing stuff in comparatively low light.

2018-05-17 03:01:27 UTC

@Millwood Depends on the light and how high you run it. If you leave the D4 in ice-water you can drain one of the best batteries on the market in under half an hour.

2018-05-17 03:05:04 UTC

@timsandtoms Is there one that's not amazingly bright and will thus last long? My bike rides are ranging from 15 to 30-40 minutes sometimes. Usually it's just 15 minutes to work.

2018-05-17 03:06:40 UTC

There's a bunch of great ones. If I had to pick just a single light+accessories for under $100, I'd get a BLF Q8 on coupon for $45ish, $25 worth of Samsung 30Q batteries, and a decent cheap charger.

2018-05-17 03:07:34 UTC

You can have bright and lasts long. If a light is more focused so that it throws farther, that hotspot in the middle will look brighter than the same light just throwing light in every direction, and the electronicals might have good or terrible efficiencies.

2018-05-17 03:07:43 UTC

But Q8 is a good balance of everything, really.

2018-05-17 03:07:49 UTC

And it has a tripod mount.

2018-05-17 03:09:45 UTC

Sign up on http://www.m4dm4x.com/, they usually have good coupons. It's just a site for a coupla guys to link you to /csg/ sites with referral links, and they also get enough sales that they request coupons from stores.

2018-05-17 03:10:17 UTC

That looks a little hard to strap on a bike though, looks short

2018-05-17 03:10:46 UTC

Ideally I'd like something around $20-25 too

2018-05-17 03:11:18 UTC

Got chargers and batteries?

2018-05-17 03:11:44 UTC

Not yet, I'm gonna get those for sure

2018-05-17 03:12:17 UTC

But the light itself being around $25 would be great
