I wonder if it can sideload APK'S

2018-08-02 21:39:38 UTC

I doubt Xiaomi can beat Google's language AI

2018-08-02 21:41:31 UTC

Unless they mean they will focus heavily on mic tech but even then just uninstalling the stock translator and using Google translate will probably be better.

2018-08-02 21:47:53 UTC

mark your calendars ladies and gents

2018-08-02 21:51:06 UTC

I forget if I asked you guys. Best battery bank for capacity-per-dollar I can get on Amazon? I'd like at least 3 outputs. Every single one seems to have mixed reviews.

2018-08-02 22:39:26 UTC

Do you think I could get enough juice from a cheap solar panel to charge a power bank if the panel is stuck behind the grate of my locker at work? Then I could top my phone off at lunch and never need to worry about charging the power bank.

2018-08-02 22:45:05 UTC

prob not

2018-08-02 22:45:13 UTC

id just get a really big powerbank

2018-08-02 22:48:04 UTC

Suggestion on a powerbank?

2018-08-02 22:48:44 UTC

I've ordered the Xiaomi 10Ah one when it was on sale for $15, waiting for it to arrive

2018-08-02 22:50:22 UTC

Think they have a 15 or 20 Ah one too

2018-08-02 22:55:09 UTC

i shouold get my mini gt tommorow btw

2018-08-02 23:03:17 UTC

Nice

2018-08-02 23:03:20 UTC

@dogapult if space isnt an issue than the Romoss 20000mah might work, its a literal brick but its held up for about a year for me amd is a couple bucks cheaper than Xiaomis at similar capacities

2018-08-02 23:03:24 UTC

Mine should arrive soonish

2018-08-02 23:07:23 UTC

People severely underestimate the size a solar panel would have to be

2018-08-02 23:07:30 UTC

to charge batteries in proper time

2018-08-02 23:10:18 UTC

Main advantage is you can just leave it out and itll charge something eventually.

2018-08-02 23:21:43 UTC

Xiaomi isn't even doing the AI translation themselves, it's outsourced to a third party <:thenk:329322130804047872>

2018-08-02 23:21:53 UTC

odd

2018-08-02 23:22:04 UTC

I guess xiaomi just doesn't have the AI chops

2018-08-02 23:22:37 UTC

Why do all these giant battery banks only have 2 outputs? Seems silly.

2018-08-02 23:23:23 UTC

yeah seems crazy why don't consumers want to charge a million devices at once

2018-08-02 23:23:36 UTC

Batteries have a limited amount of amps to give

2018-08-02 23:23:55 UTC

severely reduces lifespan if too many devices are charged at once

2018-08-02 23:23:59 UTC

Ah.

2018-08-03 00:26:33 UTC

reminder to 1) re-check your charge every now and then on power banks, especially ones you dump in a car for emergencies and 2) try not to buy LiPo if you can help it because it will fuck itself up if left in the elements

2018-08-03 02:08:47 UTC

@dogapult Two is one and one is none

2018-08-03 02:10:21 UTC

Best capacity per dollar is a car lead-acid battery and a buck converter with however many outputs you want

2018-08-03 02:34:51 UTC

Hahaha, you're not wrong about that. the output of the electrical system of the car is amazingly low. so I'm just going with the 20kmah

2018-08-03 02:49:22 UTC

40 ampere-hours at 12V is amazingly low?

2018-08-03 02:49:35 UTC

The full capacity of a battery

2018-08-03 02:49:58 UTC

Unless for authencity you're using some old ass battery

2018-08-03 02:50:26 UTC

You need 3 outpits, one for phone, one for camera, and the third?

2018-08-03 02:58:24 UTC

Flashlight, of course.

2018-08-03 03:00:22 UTC

one for phone, one for camera, one for spare batteries for the other 3 cameras.

2018-08-03 03:01:13 UTC

I'm not using some old battery for the car, the car just has a generator that only puts out 20amps. and I have a feeling it'll need all of them.

2018-08-03 03:01:43 UTC

@Woosh RE: underestimating solar panels, it would just be topping up whatever the battery would drain during the ~45 minutes/day 5 days/week that it was charging my phone using a cable that doesn't have data lines to negotiate higher speeds. It would be lit from roughly 5am-11pm 6 days/week, 3 hours less on Sunday. Probably a bit longer than that, the room is on a motion sensor, those are just the hours it's real busy and the lights are always on full.

2018-08-03 03:06:51 UTC

Why not just use an out of the way outlet to charge a powerbank?

2018-08-03 03:57:59 UTC

Seems less fun. And then I gotta make sure no one grabs it and I don't forget it
