Allright, personal computing then. wasn't point of the discussion @bentech

2018-09-08 15:36:20 UTC

point is all the "powerful" electronics seem to use x86... So when is ARM better?

2018-09-08 15:36:24 UTC

I'm confused

2018-09-08 15:36:26 UTC

@Goz3rr estimated delivery Dear?

2018-09-08 15:36:30 UTC

10-18 days

2018-09-08 15:36:34 UTC

damn nice

2018-09-08 15:36:37 UTC

priority line was free

2018-09-08 15:36:53 UTC

also the least likely shipping method to get chinked for taxes iirc

2018-09-08 15:36:56 UTC

@Deleted User one or the other isn't strictly better, it's just due to everyone wanting to run legacy server, pc etc stuff

2018-09-08 15:36:59 UTC

which needs x86

lmao

2018-09-08 15:37:35 UTC

get it

2018-09-08 15:38:09 UTC

<:woah:333623269674713098>

2018-09-08 15:40:40 UTC

cop that now

2018-09-08 15:42:28 UTC

@bentech yeah but in that case why do ARM tablets still compete? I mean unless it's cases where companies want to use their own ARM processors. They're priced about the same as intel atom ones on banggood for example...

2018-09-08 15:42:30 UTC

I CANT WATCH HD NETFLIX ON MY POCOPHONE WHAT AM I GONNA DO

2018-09-08 15:42:33 UTC

OH NO

2018-09-08 15:42:48 UTC

better battery life

2018-09-08 15:42:59 UTC

built in modem (qualcomm dominate in modems)

2018-09-08 15:48:46 UTC

>better battery life isn't that dependent purely on TDP? @bentech

2018-09-08 15:49:52 UTC

no

2018-09-08 15:49:55 UTC

tdp is meaningless

2018-09-08 15:50:10 UTC

bassically think frequency ramp up speed etc

2018-09-08 15:50:17 UTC

how much power it uses while sleeping

2018-09-08 15:50:18 UTC

etc

2018-09-08 15:51:06 UTC

So ARM is more efficient? @bentech

2018-09-08 15:51:13 UTC

then why was it abandoned in PCs?

2018-09-08 15:51:25 UTC

because it was never used in the first place

2018-09-08 15:51:25 UTC

because nearly everything is x86

2018-09-08 15:51:25 UTC

lol

2018-09-08 15:51:34 UTC

everytihng pc side is x86

2018-09-08 15:51:37 UTC

most server stuff is x86

2018-09-08 15:51:42 UTC

ok some routing stuff maybe with ARM

2018-09-08 15:51:51 UTC

ARM programs don't run on x86 natively

2018-09-08 15:52:18 UTC

having to emulate x86 in ARM is slow

2018-09-08 15:52:22 UTC

which means it uses more power

2018-09-08 15:52:50 UTC

pretty much
