2019-07-13 13:42:58 UTC

That's why gold still has some use in electronics

2019-07-13 13:51:08 UTC

2019-07-13 13:55:40 UTC

2019-07-13 13:56:06 UTC

I thought it was a different coin, I thought it was a real coin, but now that I look at it, it's another boomer coin. <:giveup:519747815853785108>

@laurefinwë It's _the_ best conductor

2019-07-13 19:31:11 UTC

Silver is one of the most useful elements

2019-07-13 19:31:15 UTC

Can't have too much silver

2019-07-13 20:15:15 UTC

It's the best conductor of all the elements

2019-07-13 20:15:25 UTC

But there actually are better conductors out there

@Tato @laurefinwë
theyre called challenge coins, and they used to be a really big deal for a long time. someone superior to you likes something you did, they give you the coin. the higher the rank and/or the bigger the coin, the more "value" it has. i think traditionally they're minted for officers to give to lower enlisted, but idk for sure. anyway you carry around either the biggest or most valuable one

2019-07-16 00:35:03 UTC

the game is usually someone says "challenge" or a phrase meaning "everyone pull out your coins", everyone slams down their coins

2019-07-16 00:35:13 UTC

different people have different rules

2019-07-16 00:35:32 UTC

most of the time its the biggest/highest rank coin is the "winner", and i think he buys the first round of drinks

2019-07-16 00:36:08 UTC

they exist within so many militaries for so long that its not uncommon for troops to trade them with other nations

2019-07-16 00:36:37 UTC

especially if the coin has the name of a famous officer, imagine how legendary it would be to trade challenge coins with a kraut in WWI/II

2019-07-16 00:36:50 UTC

allied forces too, australians for some reason love US challenge coins

2019-07-16 00:37:03 UTC

they got really popular in the iraq war when aussies were dropping in for whatever
