while you're next to them shooting moa with irons listening to them complain about their scope being loose and thats why they missed a deer opening weekend

2019-12-17 06:11:52 UTC

You'd think they'd have some on standby in case of confirmed armored suspects.

2019-12-17 06:12:16 UTC

maybe??

2019-12-17 06:12:48 UTC

it would take someone within the management side who was aware of the characteristics of armor and the rounds that can defeat it

2019-12-17 06:13:18 UTC

^

2019-12-17 06:13:28 UTC

i dont know that a given police department would have such an individual. even if they were ex-mil they might not know whats on the street here. its not like they'd deal with armored up individuals every day

2019-12-17 06:13:30 UTC

Or a general "we need something to defeat body armor"

2019-12-17 06:13:45 UTC

after a political event

2019-12-17 06:13:57 UTC

🤔

2019-12-17 06:13:58 UTC

I remember seeing quite a few MSM articles about body armor

2019-12-17 06:14:10 UTC

and a lot of talk in congress about drafting a bill to ban it

2019-12-17 06:14:20 UTC

I think CT even passed a new law or something like that

2019-12-17 06:14:28 UTC

plus they probably aren't going to spend a ton of money on a hypothetical threat they've never even faced. getting surplus shit from the feds makes more sense though

2019-12-17 06:14:30 UTC

Ct is cucked yeah

2019-12-17 06:14:33 UTC

No armor sales

2019-12-17 06:14:42 UTC

There's a lot of cross training and coordination between fed Le and SWAT, military and SWAT.
I don't think there are any swat teams that are just left to their own devices.

2019-12-17 06:14:51 UTC

idk if they can even surplus AP ammo to the police, but shit, if they can give them an MRAP why not?

2019-12-17 06:15:05 UTC

You can just buy an MRAP yourself

2019-12-17 06:15:17 UTC

pretty sure all excess ammo is just shot off or destroyed

2019-12-17 06:15:17 UTC

There's nothing regulated about it

2019-12-17 06:15:33 UTC

Yeah, don't think the military likes to keep ammo around

2019-12-17 06:15:51 UTC

when it could just be used for extra range time or some shit

2019-12-17 06:16:15 UTC

Ok im sure swat does not actively carry AP rounds but will have it ready if needed

2019-12-17 06:18:22 UTC

Most LE use some form of 77 grain OTM 5.56 in their patrol rifles.

2019-12-17 06:18:36 UTC

reminder that the government is so far behind the times that they consider armor piercing handgun ammo an unacceptable threat to police, but not armor piercing rifle rounds

2019-12-17 06:18:56 UTC

nah they're fully aware

2019-12-17 06:19:07 UTC

all of their swat officers have rifle plates that can more or less stop them

2019-12-17 06:19:38 UTC

but the vests that they're worried AP pistol ammo can penetrate, can all be slotted by any rifle

2019-12-17 06:19:46 UTC

its penny wise and pound foolish

2019-12-17 06:20:00 UTC

But thats why hard plates on beat cops exist too 🤔

2019-12-17 06:20:08 UTC

but then why ban the pistol ammo

2019-12-17 06:20:09 UTC

or their focus on having officers have shit in their cars

2019-12-17 06:20:12 UTC

cause they can

2019-12-17 06:20:13 UTC

AP handgun rounds would probably easily be stopped by level 3 plates.

2019-12-17 06:20:18 UTC

and they haven't bothered to update shit

2019-12-17 06:20:59 UTC

the real answer is because nobody actually shoots anyone with a rifle in this country

2019-12-17 06:21:00 UTC

The legislation against the pistol ammo happened long before big advancements in armor technology. Back in the day cops had soft armor only basically.

2019-12-17 06:21:55 UTC

It only makes sense if you see it as an incremental infringement

2019-12-17 06:22:00 UTC

Am I reading this right? 3810 can stop 6 of the first 5 rounds and then 3 rounds each of the last two or thats how many rounds it takes for penetration for that specific round?

If you examine it at face value it seems absurd

2019-12-17 06:22:35 UTC

it's how many they can take
