When has there ever been a period in time where the military, militia, and people hated it's government?
That's my point.
@Nicholas91 The establishment would crumble in a civil war though.
@Deleted User why?
@Deleted User Im working on the basis that a civil war would see a divided establishment
like the last one
@Deleted User Yet you're still talking about it.
why do you guys keep @ing othe people theres only three of you talking
@fannybandit >Spanish civil wars
>Rome
>Mouscouvy VS Mongolians
>Chinese civil war
>Germany
>Brazil
>Ottoman empire
>Holy roman empire
I could go on all day.
In which of those revolutions did the military and the people fight on the same side?
omg
@fannybandit
>Rome
>Mouscoucy VS Mongolians
>Germany
>Brazil
>Ottoman Empire
>Holy roman Empire
>Aztec empire
Those were not civil wars...just wars.
Also, you're naming empires...not civil wars/revolutions.
@fannybandit Geez, it isn't like these all had similar civil wars or invasions in which their lives were totally changed and their militaries and civilians fought side by side in conflicts.
When the people and the military fight on the same side, government/establishments always lose.
@fannybandit The US civil war saw the establishment divide - then the military
It's about interests, not how they fight.
For the first time in human history, the people and the military have an interest in abolishing the current establishment.
They can do this very easily and lawfully.
Yes.
Every other time, the government controlled the military to fight against the people.
@Nicholas91 The US did a study in the past, in which it determined that in the case of a civil war, 30% of the population would IMMEDIEATLY fight, and 90% of the military would abandon post IMMEDIEATLY, and the structure of power within the military and federal government would crumble, as well as that, foreign powers would also jump in and fund their own sides.
In other words, the US would be toast.
The US would be toast if the military divided.
@fannybandit Hey pal, no changing the rules for yourself so you automatically become correct.
@fannybandit You asked for a list, you got one.
Luckily, we have commanders that will ensure that the military would stay united and fight for the people.
@Deleted User thats very interesting. I can't help but want to argue that new power structures would quickly fill the vacuum
The military was the establishment
@Deleted User That was a list of empires and irrelevant information.
@RobotWizard#3986 Key word: "was".
Robert E Lee executed John Brown during Bleeding Kansas
Right now, the military and the establishment are separated...which is the best part.
Are they?
In what way
@fannybandit Wow, you pull the same card again, it isn't like all of those countries were involved in civil conflicts that totally revolutionized their empires and had both the military and citizens involved in war.
the military industrial complex is a pretty big thing
^
That creates the perfect atmosphere in which the people's justice can be served against the establishment with force.
