@aWildTomAppeared how do you feel about the best ancient greek philosopher, democritus?
idk, im kina new, dont know much other than like plato and aristotle when it comes to philosophers, Was thinking recently, considering aristotle basically made the basis of the scentific theory, do you think if he had the printing press, the renaissance, and therefore all of recent human technological improvements would have happened 2000 years earlier??
Probably
Probably be worse off tbh
idk
kek
There's a lot of Important philosophical development that happened between Aristotle and the printing press.
the more I read into greek philosophy and their general way of life/spirit, the more I wish they survived, but then again, the english values are basically as good as it gets, so idk if it would be better
It never really went away, it just evolved
devolved you mean
Evolved
how? they were just taken over by the romans
Not really
They were still hellenic
The Romans respected the Greek culture, as long as it remained subservient
I dont see how the greek can be greek while being subservient, they always seem to refuse to bend the knee or give up like that,
like the melians
Well Idk what to tell you. Go read a book
im on it, still early into history
The Greeks had a lot of respect in Rome.
They just wanted them to pay their taxes and not compete with them
Kind of like the UK and America
I am aware of how the romans read and spread greek philosophy, but like I dont see any progression from the greek times to the medevil
